Forums - Sales - Americas Preorder Charts- 8th December 2009

http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=6130

PS3 exclusive God of War III continues to pull away at the top of the Americas preorder chart with around 18,000 new preorders this week alone. With the game expected sometime in March 2010 and preorders likely to increase by around 75,000 units per month at the current rate then week one figures could end up as high as 450,000 (this obviously depends heavily on whether the current preorder rate can be sustained - I'd guess it will slow in the next couple of months and increase again just prior to release).

Other strong performers are Mass Effect 2 and MAG, both with over 100,000 preorders and 7 weeks to go to release. MAG preorders have slowed a lot from a few weeks ago, but the title could still hit close to 200,000 units in the week one. Mass Effect 2 on the other hand has seen preorders increasing over recent weeks and could hit close to 300,000 units in week one if the current preorder rate continues.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks hits 75,000 final preorders - a week one of around 150,000 looks likely. Phantom Hourglass sold 235,000 units in week one back in 2007, but with Spirirt Tracks releasing closer to Christmas it should see good holiday sales and therefore despite looking a little disappointing still has a shot at getting close to the 1.8 million that Phantom Hourglass has sold in the Americas to date.

You can see last weeks chart here, and be sure to check back next week for the latest movers and shakers.

God of War III, MAG and ME2 are looking to be very successful. Final Fantasy XIII...no comment.

Wow...no one in NA is pre-ordering FFXIII?

And we can't talk about this on actual news page because?

Take my love, take my land..

I hope Koei has the balls to release Hokuto Musou worldwide in March so it can whip Final Fantasy's ass and make Xen cry.

No formatting, no quoting, too many trolls.

I am most satisfied with these results.

Regarding FF13 guys:

Remember Uncharted 2's pre-order levels 3 months before its launch?

yeah no need to worry AT ALL in that department

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Yep, MAG & GOWIII will be big for Sony, Splinter Cell and Mass Effect 2 big for Microsoft. Oh 2010 is going to be VERY interesting!

God of War and Mass Effect I expected, but tbh I'm pleasently surprised by the MAG and Splinter Cell numbers.

gow 3 is increasing at a nice pace xD

Sony has a strong core audience in USA it seems. Their big games always get nice pre-orders and sell the exact amount that they get pre-ordred. If a game is AA or AAA Sony owners want it.

This happens with Xbox core games too... However Xbox can sometimes pull in more casual purchases for games that are not preordered. Stuff like Army of 2, Lost planet 2...I wouldn't be surprised if those games double their sales from preorders the first week on 360.
