SCEA Santa Monica Working on New IP After God of War III

If it weren’t enough that Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA), Santa Monica is releasing arguably the biggest

video game trilogy finale of this decade in March next year with God of War III, sources indicate there’s more in store.

John Hight is Director of Product Development at SCEA Santa Monica, where he’s worked for the past 4 years and 7 months. Just recently,

this interesting little nugget surfaced in his Linkedin profile.

For those still skeptical as to whether this is the same SCEA Santa Monica, they can refer to Hight’s profile page at the

University of Southern California School of Cinema Arts (where he currently teaches), where it explicitly states

Hight oversees external production

for Sony in Santa Monica. He is currently working on games for PlayStation 3 for retail distribution under Sony’s new e-Distribution Initiative.”

In fact, judging from the last sentence, it’s wholly possible that this title may be distributed online through

Sony’s Playstation Network, much like his earlier released title, flOw.

in my opinion halo trilogy was much bigger

What does that have to do with this thread though?

it is a correction to the post. its not the biggest unless god of war 3 is gonna sellatleast 11 million. but he may say one of the greatest.

Hopefully its nothing like God of War. I'm not a fan of hack n' slash games. And adventure/shooting game ala Uncharted would be awesome.

Okay guys, this may come as a shock, but... most large game studios, heck most game studios of all sizes, have *at least* one project in development that hasn't been announced.

Most titles aren't announced until they are at least halfway through their dev cycle, unless the hype train somehow needs an extra mile of track.

Every single studio you could name has a project you don't know about in development, I can say with 99% certainty.

Good of Steroids?

halo has 6 games which is double what a trilogy is. god of war ends at 3 which is a trilogy. "A trilogy is a set of three works of art that are connected,"

i think they are going make a gorey/bloody fps targeted at american gamers

God of War III will be the 4th God of War game.   You are forgetting Chains of Olympus on PSP

^^^

I think there was also a GoW on Cellphones a believe.

Pretty simple really,  the article had a quote of someones opinion and someone didnt agree with it and tried to point theiropinion as fact and everyone should obey it

Didn't Halo 3 release this decade?

I thought the same thing when I read that.

2010 is a new decade. 2000-2009 is a decade, 2010-2019 is another.

Still pretty foolish, because Modern Warfare 3 launched next decade, and so will quite a few large new IPs which will become trilogies.

Gears of War 3 and Uncharted 3, as well.
