If you disagree with a rule on the site then you should talk to those who make them, but running around breaking the rule is only going to lead to moderation.

Well perhaps the forum rules should be modified? Perhaps it should explicitly say you have to use the term console exclusive? Because if I were to not count every game that is on both one console and PC as an exclusive, it'd be a discredit to those console owners. By definition of exclusive, all you need to do is exclude others from the group. So a game on 2 platforms or more that excludes others is still an "exclusive" by the way I see it. There is only like 1 or 2 definitions of exclusive that explicitly state "only one" or something similar. EDIT: Sorry Zexen! Posted this before your post showed up :( |
I see no problem in clarifying this, because it'll help everyone understand it.
The rule clearly states that "for more info there's a topic about it" and gives a link, which is http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/post.php?id=2771250. The topic in question shows
You can:
Call a game that's only on one platform (be it 360, PS3, PC, Wii, DS, PSP, 3DO, whatever) an "exclusive."
Call a game that's on one console and PC or handheld a "(name of console) console exclusive."*
Call a remake an "exclusive."**
You cannot:
Call a game that's on more than one platform (be it 360, PS3, PC, Wii, DS, PSP, Atari 2600, whatever) an "exclusive."
Call a game that's on one console and PC or handheld an "exclusive."
Call a port an "exclusive."**
I hope this clears any doubts anyone might have

To clarify further, a game on a console is exclusive, even if a different game of the same name is on another console.
For example, LBP is still PS3 exclusive (and PSP exclusive), and Gran Turismo is PS1 and PSP exclusive.
EDIT: Also, NSMB and NSMBWii. Both exclusive.

No it won't...and that's exactly the point. The first game of an established BIG IP releasing on a new generation of consoles almost always moves hardware, Halo Reach doesn't qualify. That's why people are saying GT5 and FF13 will sell systems. The 360 has no games left like this, hence why it has no system sellers left. |
My problem with FFXIII (besides being multiplatform) and GT5 is that these games have been pushed and teased since even before launch. With all the demos, all the prologues, all the coverage, all the trailers, all the built up and extended hype (for literally YEARS now), I think a lot of system purchases have already taken place for these games. If it were still 2007 or something, then yeah there'd a be a gigantic impact. Now though, I think that's impact's been softened.
ODST was also an expansion of H3, I'm not sure you can compare it to Reach really. I don't think Reach will put up insane numbers or anything, but it'll definitely push hardware to a greater degree than ODST did.
I definitely think Gran Turismo 5 will be a system seller. I alone know 2 ppl that said the day GT5 comes out they will buy a ps3. I think there are a lot of ppl out there that aren't the biggest gamers, but love cars and racing, and bc of what GT stands for and how realistic it is graphically and with the actual driving and handling of the cars these ppl love playing it.
Now as for big exclusive games coming out in 2010:
PS3:
-GT5
-GoWIII (no one mentioned this, but I think it can move some systems)
-Heavy Rain
-MAG
-White Knight Chronicles
-Last Guardian
-Quantum
-Agent (Rockstar game)
-Twisted Metal PS3
-Wardevil
There's so many ps3 exclusives coming out I think the sheer number of games can move systems haha.
Xbox 360:
-Alan Wake (I don't own a 360, but this game looks pretty sweet, MAY be able to move some systems, maybe not though..)
-SC: Conviction (not really my type of game, but looks pretty decent)
-Mass Effect 2
-Halo: Reach
Ppl were saying 2010, esp mid-2010 is looking really dry, but I think 2010 is gonna be a great year for games all the way through.
Wardevil's multiplatform btw. Your 360 list is missing Crackdown 2 and Fable III.

Plus I don't think Twisted Metal, Agent, or The Last Guardian have release dates even hinted at yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least 2 of those games get pushed back to 2011.
MS has nothing left.
GT5 will end its life in Europe.
