HS had huge advertising, it had half a dozen spots on every NFL game for 2 weeks. I haven't seen a single advert for Z&W, much less a high profile ad like that. The only advertising so far has been from word of mouth.

I understand it but that is only nintendo's fault, they should have advertised it then.

If you want to say that sales are indicative of a flop right now, go ahead. But I don't think I ever called HS a flop.

I am not talking about you SQL, I was talking in general.

When the HS sales were there a lot of people were calling it a failure and were laughing with it

Now it is the same situation but with a Wii game and of course some Sony fanatics wants revenge.

What did you thought? That they should shut up about it?

I know this would happen.

You dont seriously think the two situations are comparable, do you?

Do you think Sony fans care if they are comparable or not?  Serious?

@avalach21 Yes I see it and yes I agree.

I am just surprised that people didn't expected that PS fans will be trolling about it.

Well yes, as it's an awesome game. But if it flops.. then it flops. I was just pointing out that in this thread some people were making some very bold statements about the games success or failure. When it's far too early to tell how it will do.

Sure it won't hit a million or anything like that, but it still might be a very successful game. Or it might not.

As for your earlier "based on Hype statement. Think of it this way. Go to Gamerankings and check out this game and Ratchet and Clank. you may notice that despite being out for about the same amount of time, Ratchet has 29 reviews and Zack n' Wiki has... 9.

Sure they're all glowing reviews, and some of those websites have really pushed the game, but most websites haven't even reviewed it. It's a game that most people don't even know of it's existence yet. And they might never, as the game could see significant declines in sales during the next few weeks and die a sad forgotten death. I'm just saying that it's silly to predict such a thing based on it's first week's numbers.

P.S. Yikes! Even Conan has more reviews than Zack & Wiki

But how would you define success for the game? Turning a profit, selling above expectations, successful in......quality?

I didn't really set a number for it. A game can be successful while selling a lot less than a million. I don't know, half a million WW? That'd be pretty funky to me in the big success department. 300k for just a success? I don't know. We'll see how it pans out over the weeks and months, and then whatever it does, we'll decide whether or not it was successful.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Would we expect any less from the PS fans...?

Wait, did you just admit that you were trolling?

Wait are you calling this trolling: I understand it but that is only nintendo's fault, they should have advertised it then.   ?????

If you think it is trolling okay then it is, but I don't see what is wrong with saying that
Nintendo should have advertised it more and why that makes it trolling?

Maybe they'll think dubbing the next one in English will make it do better... lol... sigh... I've depressed myself *combs hair over face and plays linkin Park*

People calling a game a flop based on poor retail stock is absolutely ridiculous.  It may flop yet, but plenty of games have experienced this exact same issue and come out very successful.  For a perfect example, take a look at the game my avatar is from...

If you think it is trolling okay then it is, but I don't see what is wrong with saying that
Nintendo should have advertised it more and why that makes it trolling?

haha i was teasing you about the trolling.

But this isn't nintendo's game to advertise, it's capcom's. And it's arguable if advertising would even help this game... I'm not sure if someone saw a 15 second clip of it on TV that they would get interested. There's different reasons this game would draw you in...

Hmm, so a title based almost completely on hype will have legs?

Interesting theory you have there.

why do you post this?  do you actually think you are adding to the discussion?  A game that is completely based on hype would be lair, Z&W would actually be a game that is not hyped at all.  It is not hyped outside of a few internet sites, it's a fairly low budget niche title.  The reason it has gotten attention thus far has been because of the gameplay, the sites like IGN played the game and that's what inspired them to hype it like they are.

You can't call it success or failure yet because you can't find it anywhere.  Seriously, go try to find it.  Retailers underestimated the demand for the game and it is nearly sold out everywhere, that doesn't guarantee a success at all, but it does mean we don't know how well it will do yet.  I will say that in Japan the game is doomed.  In Japan games don't recover from terrible first weeks like that.

Zack & Wiki not hyped? Seriously, have you been on this site for the last 2 weeks? Not to mention the supposed "IGN Watch" I've been hearing so much about (as you mentioned).

Let's see...saw one at Gamespot, Best Buy, and even Blockbuster now that I've checked again. Katamari Damacy was an example of a game with unanticipated demand.

I just believe that most of Zack & Wiki's hype power was internet spread, so I would think that most of the sales would occur in the first week.

People are judging this game wayyyy too soon. Just look at Trauma Centre: Second Opinion. That had less first week sales in the US then Z&W, but still ended up passing 500k worldwide.

It's just too soon to say, if the game has some good legs then it's bound to rack up some very healthy sales. You could have easily written off games like MySims, Carnival games, Resident Evil 4 etc based on first week sales, but they refuse to go away >_>.

Anywho, I think this game will sell most in Europe anyway. We stlil buy point and click games over here on the PC >_>.
