Hmm, so a title based almost completely on hype will have legs?

Interesting theory you have there.

why do you post this? do you actually think you are adding to the discussion? A game that is completely based on hype would be lair, Z&W would actually be a game that is not hyped at all. It is not hyped outside of a few internet sites, it's a fairly low budget niche title. The reason it has gotten attention thus far has been because of the gameplay, the sites like IGN played the game and that's what inspired them to hype it like they are.

You can't call it success or failure yet because you can't find it anywhere. Seriously, go try to find it. Retailers underestimated the demand for the game and it is nearly sold out everywhere, that doesn't guarantee a success at all, but it does mean we don't know how well it will do yet. I will say that in Japan the game is doomed. In Japan games don't recover from terrible first weeks like that.

Zack & Wiki not hyped? Seriously, have you been on this site for the last 2 weeks? Not to mention the supposed "IGN Watch" I've been hearing so much about (as you mentioned).

Let's see...saw one at Gamespot, Best Buy, and even Blockbuster now that I've checked again. Katamari Damacy was an example of a game with unanticipated demand.

I just believe that most of Zack & Wiki's hype power was internet spread, so I would think that most of the sales would occur in the first week.
