Forums - Sony - Is God Of War Facing Stiff Competition?

What's Dante's Inferno? :P Seriously though, new franchise vs established IP?

Exactly the reason why GOW has nothing to worry about.Thare's no resident evil 4/call of duty 4-level-of-renewing a stale series happening with Devil May Cry,Ninja Gaiden or any other game in its genre. No new IP,no matter how much better, can compete.

Yeah... I think GoW III will trounce Dante's Inferno as far as quality goes.

Sales...who knows, God of War isn't a humongous seller and DI could be potentially big.

I guess it depends on what a humungous seller is,  many expect around 2.5-3 million.  Dante's Inferno will have a tough time matching that on both consoles combined

and Kratos goes........... MUWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

GoW3 preorders are rising fast, probably due to the demo partly, but still, dantes inferno may get some sales from GoW fans looking from something to carry them to GoW3 then theyll forget about the little child and play with the grown up.

Stiff competition? Is that a pun in reference to the large amounts of genitalia present in Dante's Inferno?

Anyway, that article suggests that DI > GoW3, which makes it wrong. Also:

-God of War has NO problems with progression. A good sequel is the same gameplay style, with a few tweaks here and there. GoW2 was fantastic at this. GoW3 is better. And I HAVE played the E3 demo, so I'm in a better position to judge than him. I don't know what message boards he posts on where people are getting tired of God of War.

-If EA expects this game to sell HALF of what GoW3 finishes with, they're being overly optimistic. It's a new IP, while GoW is Sony's second biggest franchise.

Devil may cry is in the same category as God of War
so is Heavenly Sword
but that doesn't mean you can directly compare them still.

Heavenly Sword is, to a certain degree, similar to God of War. DMC, on the other hand, is completely different.

They have about as much in common as Halo and Uncharted.

I am a major God of war fan, to me God of War 1 was much better then God of war 2, but both still very good, I have played the God of war 3 demo, it is amazing. Some may say the been there and done that thing because the over all game play and buttons are pretty much the same, but when it comes to game play and enemies, moves and combos, Big boss fights , level desighn, special powers and graphics the game is simply amazing. In my eyes there is no competition with the God of war series in General, but some may disagree.

lol...great, those 2 can duke it out and Bayonetta will be better than both

it will blow the competition out of the water, even bayonetta.....especially in NA

Bayonetta is a completely different type of game, and you have no way of knowing how good it will be.
