Cool if true, but I would assume you would need a regular psp connected to your ps3 while doing so.

Would you need to own a psp to play them or not?
03/10/09 HUGE day in my life:
holy shit dude, hope this is true
imagine ace combat skies of deception playing on ps3, OH-MY-FUCKING-GOODNESS !
It has a lot of potential, since they would be increasing the userbase for PSP games by 27 million. The ability to sell a lot more games to customers who would either not buy a PSP or don't want to buy one (I want to buy one, but I don't really have a need for a portable system) is a good thing, but it could potentially hurt sales of the PSP in the long run (considering the GO is doing horribly anyways).

R u serious? You don't buy a psp b/c it doesn't have trophies??? O.o R trophies that important to people? I don't even pay attention to them |
Why would I play a PSP game when I can play a ps3 game? Trophies are fun. They are a great challenge and they feel very rewarding. Right now, I'm on the fence with psp. Especially the Go. I have 500$ in my bank for any purchases I might want to make before christmas. I know that I can get 3 free games with a Go!, but the thing is, I already have a DS for when I'm on the go.
Trophies are just the tipping point for me and a lot of other people.

That's rather foolish. They make a profit on the PSP, and they want to sacrifice PSP sales for PS3 sales?
One way this could work is if you have to register your PSP first, so you don't have to play on that god awful screen.
This would certainly boos PSP Go sales...If it means only PSP games bought at PSN would work on Ps3.
Then again, I don't like this one bit.PSP loses its best ability:To play PSP games that are only on PSP.
Take my love, take my land..
Would be a very good idea, it should not affect PSP sale too much since its a portable device. Anyway PSP is at the end of his life so it would be better for everyone to be able to sell a lot of software.

Again, we don't know when this will release (if at all), and as nordlead already pointed out, people seem to be buying the PSP for reasons other than gaming (legal gaming anyway). If that is the case, then the PS3 being able to play PSP games should not affect the sales of PSPs (not a lot anyway), but rather add to software sales (and with the current PSP software sales, Sony has good reason for making this move).
Now imagine that the PSP sales are pretty much dead, and the non-BC PSP2 releases in a month. What should stop Sony from releasing this at that point?
Personally, I think that what little damage this might cause will easily be mitigated by added software sales.
| Maynard_Tool said: That's different. Those are console games. Not freaking handheld games >_> I can't believe both of you made that comparison. For example. I own both (psp and ps3) and i just got both Assanssin's creed. Do you think i would like to play the psp version having the ps3 one?? Imo is useless |
I want to buy that silent hill game that was on the psp and ps2, becuase my psp is broke and ps3 doesnt play ps2 games, this is a PREFECT chance for me to play that game
