Holy crap, Malstrom was right

It does seem like there's a push to abandon Wii development and refocus on a smaller number of top-tier HD titles. Just as he predicted.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I kinda started reading nonames post in the middle and was crossing my fingers that it was Malstrom. Don't know why people follow his posts, they're really a bit stupid in my opinion =/

The only decent bit in it was the picture of the dogs, which I don't even think was made by him.

Is that soup?

Nintendo isn't doomed already, WO! Too bad if they leave the console, they just had to do more marketing and mroe good games. How dare they think they would sell well with crappy games? Wii owners aren't so stupid.

Next time, with HD, Nintendo will get the great games.

  Explain how he's wrong

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

“Nintendo needs to assist these third parties in getting their casual games to sell.”

Malstrom saw EA's future:

http://blogs.creativeloafing.com/the941/2009/11/13/ea-wii-weaker-than-expected-needs-more-games/

“. . . we are reaching out to Nintendo to find ways to partner to push third-party software harder."

ROFL

We had Ubisoft complaining that their 2 dozen casual games weren't selling too good.

EA had a couple of their Wii efforts like Dead Space Extraction tank.

THQ was complaining a while back that if Wii owners didn't buy their bug game, they'd only get de Blob 2.

Atari has only released a tame DBZ spinoff instead of a DBZ fighting game

But yet, Zoo Games is still around.........

So what's next guys? Sink or Swim?

1.) When it comes to Ubisoft, Imagine is very saturated towards the DS.  Why get the Wii version when there are more Imagine options on the DS?

2.) EA made a prequel to a series popular on the HD consoles, Dead Space hasn't proven itself on the Wii.  The fact that Light Gun Shooters are very saturated on the Wii and there you go.

3.) Deadly Creatures had a niche premise, customers don't want games about playing as a spider or scorpion(outside of Mortal Kombat).

4.) Atari lost the Dragonball Z license to Namco.  Also it's been advertised as a "Wii option" on top of Raging Blast for the HD consoles.

They should leave so they have no more reasons to complain.

Considering the only games I currently want from these publishers are No More Heroes: DS and de Blob 2, I see it more as their lost than mine.

you failed in point 2. Light gun shooters arent very saturated. Darkside chronicles had the best launch of any on Light shooter on the wii, And it came after Dead space.  The truth is, Dead space isnt as revelant as RE or HOTD and the few interested in DS wanted a different genre. Top it with no advertisement and thats the true issue. Light gun shooters, on the other hand, will continue to sell.

In any case, i dont care about those developers. I need ubisoft however to remember to bring the big hits to the wii, as i cant forgive the lack of Assasins creed.not because i love AC, but the fact that they neglected the wii market so badly. THQ and atari are jokes tho.And Raging blast isnt a good game either.Hell, actually for an adventure game, piccolos revenge is pretty good.

I love that dog graphic.

Is it a change for the better? For me, it doesn't matter because I avoid the shovelware anyway. For the Wii market as a whole? I'm not sure. It might make it easier for people to find good games, but then again, the PS and PS2 seemed to thrive on shovelware.

Switch Code: SW-7377-9189-3397 -- Nintendo Network ID: theRepublic -- Steam ID: theRepublic

Now Playing
Switch - Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)
3DS - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Trilogy) (2005/2014)
Mobile - Yugioh Duel Links (2017)
Mobile - Super Mario Run (2017)
PC - Borderlands 2 (2012)
PC - Deep Rock Galactic (2020)

Hopfully it means less shovelware, but i dont think it does. Next year their are probably a few key 3rd party efforts for the Wii that can change this: MH3 in the west, Epic Mickey, Red steel 2, and NMH2. These 4 games look like real efforts on the Wii, and i wouldnt be surprised if they did well.

I'm even betting that MH3 will be a very good success especially since Nintendo are giving them a hand in promoting it and the fact that Capcom have done well on the console
