I'll be interested to see how Sony advertises Heavy Rain.
I don't get why Remedy hasn't let anyone have a significant preview or "hands-on" yet, considering the game is done and just being polished.

I am pretty sure that Alan Wake will sell at least 1 mil opening week. MS has already stated that they will be advertising the hell out of it and it has already garnered amazing amounts of positive press for the last 2-3 years. It's a game that has taken forever to come out, and when video was finally demoed it was met with alot of "holy shit this is gonna be cool" style remarks. Heavy Rain on the other hand... good luck.

Game is done?Haven't heard about that.
And we have got some special stuff here in Finland..I'm just too lazy to post it.
Take my love, take my land..
Heavy Rain will much more likely flop than Alan Wake. Heavy Rain is much more disturbing and graphic which will limit it's sales a lot, and also is basically a QTE game. Where Wake is just a shooter with a mystery atmosphere and nice visuals.
Plus theres the fact PS3 exclusives never sell that well (at best they're slow burners) while 360 ones usually do. I mean, Uncharted 2 after the billions of internet threads and so many gifs of it posted by PS3 "fans" that it singlehandedly (along with Killzone 2) caused global warming only did a little over 500k in it's first NPD...
I wouldn't be surprised, but technically speaking Alan Wake is a shooter while Heavy Rain isn't. It depends who can market each game better than the other. I would actually think with being hypeded and a part shooter Alan Wake would sell better.

They both look to me like they could be really fun games, so if they flop it will be a general disappointment to gamers in general, we all want the best games. Right

C'mon...
My bet is about a 50/50 chance Alan Wake Flops
I'd put Heavy Rain flopping even higher maybe 75% chance it flops. I don't think gamers are ready for the type of game it is.
Alan Wake wont flop i guess. The Gameplay is traditional with a special atmosphere.I really regret the fact it isnt coming to Ps3. Heavy rain is extremly experimental. They have a chance to make an unique game if its just a QTE Movie I am not interested in it, it depends all on the controls of the game. I cant see Alan Wake flopping and I hope Heavy Rain wont flop either it sounds so extremly interesting if its good designed it could be really fantastic.
ON TOPIC:
-I think Alan Wake in terms of sale will do fine. (i did have a HOLY SHIT THAT GAME IS GOING TO BE COOL MOMENT, while i was watching videos of it, but the again its more a traditional style of a thriller/horror game that i really love, and it has been proven to work.)
-Heavy Rain on the other hand is a little more problematic because on some vids i was extremely "holy shit" impressed and other vids i was like, is this just like a movie with some controls? (this game looks interesting because of the fact that it is totally different and intriguing. thats why its on my radar so far, and also cuz i only have a ps3. =P)
-both game shouldn't have high expectations though, i highly doubt these two games will have mass market appeal. (i hope they do though.)
OFF-TOPIC:
I cannot believe someone just mentioned uncharted 2 is a semi-flop. 880k WW for uncharted 2 vs. 133k WW for uncharted 1 sales is amazing! granted its not a HALO monster or a MW2 monster, but for a sequel to a game that never had that large of a fanbase following it, i'm surprised it did as well as it did now. but whatever, that's just only my opinion, nothing to see here.
