I think Alan Wake has a shot to sell significantly more than 1 million, because of the developer Remedy is quite popular. Other than that it seems that MS is pushing Alan Wake more than Sony does with Heavy Rain.

I hope both sell well. From what we have seen, they truly deserve this.

Are you kidding me? I've seen far more footage and buzz surrounding HEAVY RAIN. I'm sure I'm not alone on that one.

No you arent alone on that,  they have already had 2 Qore episodes with Heavy Rain, and quite a few articles in OPM.    Not to mention that they had alot of info at the majority of the games conventions last year.  Sony has made many mentions that this is one of their big titles for 2010

Heavy Rain is a bit more experimental than Alan Wake.. the market doesnt usually accept genre altering games well..so Im gonna say AW is prolly gonna sell better..neither will be a FLOP though, 1million for each atleast, unless the gameplay in HR is totally unengaging..

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

Sony predicted LBP would be a next Mario or a sort of, just to utterly destroy the launch, LOL. Microsoft is better at pushing and targeting Alan Wake to the 360 core, even without spending billions on banners and ads, while I feel like 75% of those who've heard about Heavy Rain are still dizzy what a hell this `game` is about.

When did Sony say that,  are you sure you arent just taking ridiculous fanboy dreams and spinning them as if Sony themselves said it.   And its not like LBP was unsuccessful at all.   Isnt it above 2.5M?  And also how did the launch get destroyed?

Alan Wake will definitely outsell Heavy Rain by a comfortable margin.

This is not a thread to discuss LBP performance, so I'm not falling into your derailment trap. Go google for Sony execs expectations and Qur'an music mess yourself, thanks. LBP was not whole point of my message in this thread, just an example of "mighty marketing push" which Sony is capable of, kekeke. I just don't see how Heavy Rain as one of their `biggest titles` could be different.

Furthermore in HR case, niche game is niche and just can't suddenly get a mass appeal.

Nope. I don't buy/play/enjoy games because they sell 10 mill. In fact, Modern Warfare 2 isn't even one of my favorite games of all time, and look at it's sales. No, I appreciate what both of these teams (Quantic & Remedy) are trying to do, innovate. It's a shame that gamers, some in this very thread, would rather harp on sales than enjoy a unique experience.

Oh well.....

Not selling would, in all likelyhood, lead to no sequel which is what I was going for.
