Looking further into it, I agree, I don't think wii sports is going to have enough time to catch up, though it is now selling more than NSMBWii.

It's a little late, but with adjustments NSMB Wii has done it. Even without Japan's sales (which were over 2.7m), its Americas + Others sales beat all the listed games' worldwide sales, which is pretty hilarious.
