Forums - Sales - Sony pleased to see PS3 "momentum" Also said Nintendo is losing momentum

Funny how Nintendo is a suddenly competitor when Sony is as close as it's ever been. Yet when the Wii is well out in front it's not a competitor. If sales go back to their usual parity then Nintendo will no longer be a competitor!

they are close, since when?

you guys are reading this so wrong, he not once said anything about catching Nintendo, He seemed more focused on third party support.

I dont see the problem...

He mentions in the article that Ninty are down YoY, this should show us what he is talking about.

Compared to previous years, Wii has lost a LOT of momentum, PS3 has gained a lot of momentum...

It's PR talk folks, Reggie said stupid stuff, The MS guy is known for saying stupid stupid stuff, now Sony must top it.

Are you kidding me?

Sony topped what stupid PR can be at the begining of this gen, now they, for some reason, seem like they will to catch up :P

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Hmm...Sony really shouldn't be setting their sights on Nintendo just yet, me thinks.

A Wii 2 release before the end of the PS3 life cycle would probably bury Sony (and MS for that matter).

Yes, but it's more like when the PS2 lost momentum to the Xbox in 2004.

It's totally a cherrypicking argument, and I believe it gains validity because Nintendo is such a numb company right now. Ever since Yamauchi left people have been allowed to develop incredible views on them, far beyond the reaches of common sense.

nintendo don't really lose momentum in terme of hardware sales but much more on terme of third party support.

How do you lose momentum of something they never had?

Everyone keeps blaming the developers for not supporting the Wii yet, Nintendo is never blamed for trying hard enough to get them. Sony and MS needs third parties, so the go the extra step to please them, Nintendo loaded with money lets plenty of games that with even a small amount of support and marketing from them would have pushed them to more sales. I blame Nintendo for the lack of third support.

So? What he said isn't wrong. The point still stands. Wii lost momentum and PS3 gained momentum.

He doesnt make it sound like PS3 is suddenly going to outsell Wii. He just says they have some good momentum, when a big competitor has lost some.

You lot are blowing it out of proportion... Like many other comments made by people.

People from "Sony of America" shouldn't speak unless told to.  It "obvious"  He has to compare Nintendo's yoy sales as if its supose have its selling streak the same every year  or better.  Sony posted a loss not Nintendo.  Even with a price drop which made sales do good for two weeks Sonys' back down in fifth place behind (1.DS 2.Wii 3.PSP 4.360 5.PS3).  The sweet spot is a $199 all in one entertainment set that "dose eveything" not $299.  I dont know what charts he's studying or reading but rest assured pretending your making head way and posting a loss mean some poeple at Sony will be loosing thier jobs.  If Sony stops worring which cookie cutter  me to titles that can be on thier system as Microsfts' Then they wouldnt have to compare why Nintendos' 1st party titles still outsell even the 3rd party titles on the PS3.  I Hope Sony makes the big turn around they are planing for till then "Keep on reading charts" on why the other guy is down yoy and still out selling you...

It did lose momentum, its $199 now and its still not doing the numbers it did last year, all though still the best selling console.
