It becomeing a phenomenon

Ds & PSP aren't relevant to those people anymore

Like it or not, it reminded me of the way we use to play Pokemon like this 10 years ago

Don't defile Pokemon's name.

That's true.

@Kantor

I'm not, I'm just saying that seeing them playing like that made me WANT to get one too....I'll be getting one soon.

Like it or not, APPLE have got many people dedicated to games on iphone/ipod touch

if they make a hand held next, they already have a few loyal people who may follow them & be early buyers

Apple is playing this game very smartly

Ijust hope nintendo is two steps ahead of them, couldn't care less what sony does in portables

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

The iPhone was at around 22 million by the end of April 2009.

Or, less than half of the PSP, and under 1/5 of the DS.

And how many of those people are using it as a handheld gaming system?

Your numbers are old, and they aren't including the iPod Touch. Apple had shipped over fifty million Touch devices by the end of September:

Apple likely has a larger install base than the PSP at this point, or will soon enough. Your last question is a very good one, though.

I don't think the iPhone/iPod Touch will ever be a real threat to handhelds like the DS.

Well of course. But the people here at VGChartz just ignore the iPhone. To them, it's not a portable.
But hey, go ahead and keep believing nintendo will satisfy the core, sony will win this gen, and that xbox live gives gold subscribers enough.

Man, you guys really know how to pick 'em.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

The problem with these pro-iPhone articles is they completely dismiss the DS, or even Nintendo in general. The fact is, the DS is still selling very well - both hardware and software. These are primarily gaming platforms, so they will sell lots more software than the average iPhone/Touch user.

As long as the iPhone/Touch is built with gaming as an afterthought, Nintendo doesn't have a problem. They will always be able to build a superior device (specifically for handheld gaming), and the software to support it.

Seeing as how the iPhone is growing, I think eventually Sony and Nintendo will do something to stop them. Especially Sony. Apple is a bigger threat to Sony, then to Nintendo. Their next PSP, PSP2, better include touch features to some extent, as to not look dull and archaic next to the iPhone and DS (especially when Nintendo launches a new handheld, I see them pushing "touch" even further). Keep Denying it, but, if Sony had launched the rumored PSP phone years ago, people wouldn't be dismissing it as much as they are dismissing the iPhone.

I always find these "Iphones getting compared the NSD/PSP" articles ridiculous, sure the iphone has some intersting games but what sets the Iphone apart from the NDS/PSP is that the Iphone is #1: phone, #2: music player, #3: web inter-face device, 4:gaming.(IMO) the NDS/PSP were made for gaming first and fore most.

when I see my friends with their iphones they usually have minigames, nothing that one would actually sit down and play for hours. I don't see any game for the Iphone that would actually make me jump from out of my chair and run down to the apple store and purchase one.
