The color idea sounds like a non-invasive solution - don't know if it is possible/practical though.

I think i mightve quoted you and since i had no response from you so i thought you might've been a douche.  Will you reply to this or be a douche again to me? lol jk =)

OT, i fully agree we should have some kind of alert.

I agree with this. 100% a good idea. I've often missed comments directed at me and one person even left an angry message on my wall once fr not replying.

If it's implemented well it would be awesome. I would say that there should be a bolded option on the 'My Recent' threads section that takes you straight to the page with the quote/reply. That would be awesome.

Something weird happened. I tried to quote myself in one thread - http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=93380&page=2# - and nothing happened in the left bar, it didn't even appear as new post. Then I posted again in the same thread and it appeared red, even though the new post didn't have any quote

Though, it may be due to the fact that I had quoted myself

Exactly.  You might not see that I quoted you here and never respond.  That'd be a total douche bag move on your part.
