Scary stuff, hey. Apple seems to be investing some of the money they've made from the ipod/iphone into recruiting video game developers to join a new studio. The team seems to be for development of iPhone games.

I suspect next generation, Apple will be a competitor to be reckoned with, in the handheld sector at least.

Considering the layoffs by EA and how many studios closed down the last few years, Apple should have little problem recruiting.

intresting, Apple are defo getting into gaming big, but will they launch dedicated systems? who knows

They need to set the quality bar for all other iPhone games, like Nintendo did for their consoles with Mario (and to a lesser extent, Microsoft with Halo and Sony with promoting the third-party GTA and FF).

They also need to make the most use of the hardware to show what can be done, like SM64 used the analog stick or Wii Sports used the Wii Remote (I'm sure there are Sony/MS examples too).

And they need a flagship game to drive hardware sales, if they intend to be a real console rather than a phone that plays games.

and you don't think a large amount of games sell on the iDevices?
