Forums - Gaming - Edge Issue 209 Scores

Assassin's Creed 2, Bayonetta, Spirit Tracks, and S&P2 all faired very well. I suspect I will enjoy all of them more than indicated.

I didn't see where they reviewed Sin & Punishment 2. What did they give it?

oops, they reviewed Sin & Punishment, not 2. I guess it just came out in Europe, while we've had it in the US for quite some time.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Oh I see.

10/10...for Bayonetta?

I'm getting scared because my prejudice against anything which is a hack and slash and doesn't involve ancient mythology won't let me get excited for it.

Which is why I haven't completely dismissed Dante's Inferno.

Having read most of the infomation Edge has printed on God of War III, I'm expecting an 8/10 for that game (possibly even a 7, so fanboys get those fingers ready).  They just don't seem particularly taken with it....every other 10 I can think of has pushed its genre forward or innovated in some way, I don't see how a game criticised at preview level for feeling like more of the same is going to get the coveted 10.

Using the 'Edge 10' template, Bayonetta has to be a simply stunning game to not stick out like a sore thumb in a list that consists only of (I think):

Mario 64

Gran Turismo

Zelda: OOT

Halo

Half Life 2

Halo 3

Orange Box

Super Mario Galaxy

LitteBigPlanet

GTA IV

Personally I'd only rate 5 of those games at 10/10, but at the same time there are very few existing games that I feel should join the list.

I was a bit puzzled this morning when I saw the scores, because the early videos of Bayonetta I've seen have looked, well, sickening, but I'm going to trust Edge and pre-order it.  I'm itching to play a third-person brawler that they think is better than Xbox Ninja Gaiden.  Hopefully it's pushing the envelope with more than its breasts.

An Edge 8 is nothing to be ashamed of, it's a very impressive score.

I would expect a 9 for GoW3.

Going back to Bayonetta...Edge AND Famitsu? Either:

a) This game is actually really good, or

b) The editors at Famitsu and Edge are wearing a cap fashioned out of banknotes, courtesy of Sega.

It's a beat-em-up by the same team who made and supervised by the director of God Hand.

What more could you want?

The same God Hand you gave 7.8/10 to, and yet inexplicably love?

What more could I want? To start with, a non-gimped port. After that, nothing really, I just wouldn't like it.

Ninja Gaiden has put me off non-GoW hack and slash for life. Maybe if other reviewers adore Bayonetta as much as Edge and Famitsu, and people don't hate it after a week (*coughGTA4cough*) then I'll buy it and it could restore my faith in what I'm sure is a fantastic genre.

It's on par with MGS4. Be happy.

I suppose an 8 is good... they gave NSMBWii a 7 and I absolutely love that game.
