My only hope for the PSP2 is that it has BC, but that seems unlikely.
I'm curious to see what control schemes Nintendo and Sony will come up with. If they will change anything at all.

PSP2 seems like it will be epic

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st ![]()
I think the more interesting speculation in this article is that Nintendo will not necessarily make a DS2-this technology could be applied to a single screen handheld, and the GameBoy brand could make a comeback.

I don't think that'll happen :P

I don't know, if they made a single touch screen instead of dual screens I think it could definatly work out that way. However I think a dual screened system is more likely because Nintendo will want to keep backwards compatability. The only thing that worries me I remember when Microsoft teamed up with Nvidea for the X-Box and then fell out with them. They had to pay royalties for every game they made backwards compatable on the 360. I would not want to see Nintendo loose backwards compatability as I have a huge library of DS games.
I'll be satisfied with a GameCube power handheld, I doubt the graphical difference between the two will work much in PSP2's favour. I bet developers will look towards multiplatforming with the PSP2 and DS2. In the end I am really exited for the next DS but am not sure whether to expect it in 2010 as many do, I think Nintendo may wait for sales to dip a little further I mean 200K a week is still way to good for Nintendo to launch a new platform.
Unless Nintendo knows when Sony plans on releasing the PSP2, then I could see Nintendo launching its next console alongside Sony's!

That would mean the next Nintendo console will have nVidia graphics? No backwards compatibility if so?
wow..... Rumour of a rumour.... How can ANYBODY doubt this???

Number of cores has nothing to do with power consumption it's number of transistors and technology that matters.
There have been single core CPUs that have higher W than current quad cores.
And price also won't be so bad when the die size is smaller than current one.
Now if DS2 is as powerfull as they say and offers BC with DS1 i could get one.

Hmm I honestly dont know a Quad CPU which can be used in an extremly portable device. Is there a Small QuadCore CPU ? Do you know a Quad CpU which can be used without a cooling device ?
The only chance to make a QuadCore CPU work in a PSP2 is to make it significantly weaker then all the Quad Core CPUs out there. And to completly alter the design so it dont needs an active cooling System. I didnt meant 4 Cores are always more power hungry. I meant--> 4 Cores always a very strong CPU with alot of Transistors and needs active cooling= Needs a strong battery. And where is the point to make a Quad CPU which has a small amount of Transistors which needs no active Coolement.
To implement strong CPUs you need always strong battery thats why a Mobile Phone has not 1 GHZ CPus. I think Apple made the maximum with the Iphone 3g S and 600 MHZ. Sony can reach probably 1Ghz and a Quad CPU with 1Ghz is way to power hungry because it has more transistors then a 1ghz Single Core CPU. Why its sometimes the case that a Quad needs lesser power :
You can make a 1 GHZ single Cpu significantly smaller then a 1ghz Quad if both use the same manufactoring process. A Quad CPU has theoretically 4 times the power of the same CPU with the same ClockSpeed. In reality its more of 2.5-3 times. It has a lot more transistors then a single core CPU of the same Speed. Ofcourse a single CPU can use more power if its manufactured in an older process. Thats the trick the more transisors you can fit on the same ground the more power you have, despite that you have the same Power Consumption. You canhave double or tripple the amount of transistors and still you wont need more power then an old chip. Its not just the number of transistors its also the manufacturing process. Thats why a single CPU can use as much Power as a Quad Core.
You could make a quad which uses lesser power but you have to reduce the Clockspeed. Its not that easy.
If you are a Company which produces Consoles you always take the smallest possible chip size I guess that will be 32 nm in the PSP 2. Smaller Chips = cheaper. It would be sensless to think about making a Single 1ghz in 90Nm or instead a Quad 1Ghz in 32 nm both would probably use the same amount of energy.
A Quad needs (depending on chip size) a lot more power then the same CPU manufactured the same way. Because a quad is nothing else then a bunch of CPUs taped together. And if the Quad is manufactured with the same transistor size the single chip, it needs a lot more space and a lot more power.
