Forums - Nintendo - Capcom explain why Darkside Chronicles is on-rails

They expect this one to sell 800k.

We'll see what happens.

"The one thing I don't get is the 3rd party attitude towards Wii games. "Wii owners don't want an RE5 like experiecnce", but RE4 is the best-selling M-rated game on the console."

Capcom said they WOULD do something like that, just that it would take longer. Rail Shooters aren't really that less resource intensive, but since you don't need to plan the levels for free movement, it takes less time to make.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

I think everyone expected it to be on-rails.

"So it made sense to finish off this iteration of this series."
Sounds like they're finished with the "Chronicles". Will we see a new series of on-rails shooters after this one, or (dare I say it) a TPS RE (new or remake)?

It doesn't just apply to Capcom. Look at what happened with Dead Space. It concerns spin-offs as well.

For some strange reason, Wii owners can't understand slightly complex gaming. Instead, they receive dumbed down spin-offs labeled 'support'.

anyone remember "Gun Survival" series and the "Dead Aim " one? i loved those but they weren't on rail shooters.
Dead Aim was a hybrid of RE4 and Gun Survival. and i personally liked it more than RE5.

Edit : what im saying is that you CAN have RE5 on Wii with different gameplay (but seriously its not worth it) , i'd like them to have these kind of characters with gameplay of gun survivor or just the old school classic Resident Evil gameplay, no more steriod fused gun porn.

Translation in English: The budget was lower, and it maximized profit.

That's NOT what I wrote. I wrote that this is coming out first because IT TOOK LESS TIME.

I know what you wrote. I'm not criticizing Capcom for RE:DC.

Just your comment made it seem otherwise.

Yea, I guess my comment made it seem like I thought you were corroborating what I said, when in fact you were talking about something else.
