I'd be suspicious, but it can be done. If Atlus could make a Western RPG (Demon Souls), then a Western company can make a Final Fantasy. Still, I can't think of anybody offhand who would do a decent job.

You don't need to change all the dynamics of a Final Fantasy gameplay to create a western game. We could keep the same style of progression and battle system and just ad a western created story line. Like Strategyking said, add all those things into the game but keep it away from the FPS formula that Western RPGs use and you have a winner!

I think Bioware could do it. They just like the first person shooter view a lot and would need to learn a lot about the elements used in JRPGs.

FFXII and Tactics were "Western inspired"

Tactics was pretty successful for a a strategy-based FF game! I actually love the storyline more than most FFs with a couple of exceptions!
