The next firmware update looks like it’s going to feature Facebook, according to the images below taken directly from playstation.com.  Along with some kind of integration with the social behemoth, the XMB will also feature a new way to view photographs and what appears to be new colours for your Gamercards.

For reference, the links (currently still valid) are http://uk.playstation.com/media/244960/image.jpg, http://uk.playstation.com/media/244961/image.jpg and http://uk.playstation.com/media/244974/image.jpg – and are in Portugese.  The Facebook screen looks like a setting, rather than just a link.

Interesting, huh?

Update: English screen added, text says: “Adjust settings for features in Facebook. These features are available only for users who have Facebook accounts.”

Why bother when it's a pointless feaure that PS3 fans don't want, at least thats what we've heard when it was coming to the 360.

Don't we already have facebook? Oh wait its an integrated form, actually I would prefer this over the internet facebook, its one of the sites the PS3 has a hard time managing through.

Changing colours in the PSN ID card? How is that useful.

Give me more choices with the avatars; how hard can it be to implement?

im hoping for trophy data in psn id cards, colours are usefull and we need the promised avatar updates.

facebook will likely to be a widget like the bbci one, with tweaks so it runs better with your browser.
