it will be about a year or so ps3 is moving units quite consistently now there is no reason not to own one even just for the bluray if you own an hd tv get a bluray player its a no brainer

If by a year you mean until January 2010, then yes it'll be a year.

Ya there is no way it's going to catch up in america. Maybe the ps4 will do a better job of that.

I think the PS3 will pass the 360 in Europe/Others by this december.
