Forums - Nintendo - First REAL TRAILER of PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Big Adventure

I think we learned that we shouldnt judge on the screens so much... because this looks good 0_o... Wonder if this will release out of Japan though... also this game looks like it deals with alot of side quests that require you to play various minigames! though im not sure if there is a main quest...

^Why isn't it going to happen. What is preventing Nintendo from doing what people want?

There's no real incentive.  Pokemon sells 15m+ on handhelds as is, and the appeal is still fundamentally tied to local play and trading (even if DS added online).   I just don't think Nintendo (or Game Freak/Creatures) sees any real reason to change that formula.

Why would they have to chnage the formula?

Trading and battling could be done with friend codes online, and it's not like the Wii can't handle traditional Pokémon gameplay.

No, I meant change the platform formula (handheld main games).  I think best you can hope for are the Arena-link-up games adding back in a story/RPG mode (like Coliseum/XD).

is it possible to make a 2-d console pokemon game with same mechanics as the handheld ones but with more functions and barely little load times? If yes then that would be awsome!

Not too sure what is going on but it looks like a lot of fun surprisingly.

@jarrod: Why would Nintendo never put a real Pokemon game on a home console? I mean, they did the inverse thing with Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, F-Zero, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, etc going to handhelds. It will happen some day, and I bet this gen.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

You'd think that just the assets required to properly model and animate that many different monsters on a home console would be too expensive to make this worth it when they can get comparable or better sales on the DS.

Why 2D?

a 3D console pokémon that played like the handheld games would be even more awesome.

@Why wouljarrod

Nintendo would have to be bilnd not to see a reason to change the formula. A 3D console pokémon would be epic.
