Well the holidays are coming and no matter what holiday you celbrate the season of giving is right around the corner. It's time for our beloved and often humorous family of vgchartz to get together and spread some holiday cheer. We'll be doing a secret santa program for vgchartz and steam users to get eachother a game within a $10 - $20 (USD) or 7 - 14 (Euros) price range. Members must have over 200 posts or be invited by me or a Mod in order to participate. (Incase of invite a the mod should PM me who to add) I'll make a list of requirments to make this clearer. Also I would like to thank NoName for hosting the Wii Secret Santa last year which gave me the idea for the Steam one. Also for those of you who don't have steam and do own a wii check out the Wii Secret Santa which will also be taking place this year!

Requirements:

1. Must be a Member of VGChartz with at least 200 posts or be invited by a Mod or Me

2. Must have a valid Steam Account

3. Must be willing to both GIVE and RECIEVE

Rules:

1. Game/s must be within $10 - $20 USD or 7 to 15 Euros give or shave a few pennies. If you buy them a game under 10 dollars, buy another game to go with it that will put you within the price range.

2.  If you are under 18 or have no access to a credit/debit card, please ask your parents before you join.

3. Application must be received by December 10th, entries after will not be accepted

4. Understanding that people are busy please I understand that Access to a computer can be hard to come by around the holidays. so we are aiming for gift times December 23rd - 27th. If you are unable to do this around those times please message the person you are sending your gift to that you will be late and give them their gift ASAP.

5. If you want you may ask for DLC in your wishlist, once again keep it in the price range.

6. Your wishlist must contain at LEAST 5 games. Knowing exactly what your getting spoils the fun. You may have more then 5 in the list.

7. You don't need to buy them something on the wishlist exactly, but use it as a guide. It's best to stick to the list just incase you buy them something they already have.

How it Works:

1. PM me your email and a wishlist of 5 games you want in steam that are $10 - $20 or 7 to 15 Euros before December 10th

2. On December 11th to 14th I will mix everyone up randomly on whom is sending a gift to whom.

3. On December 15th I will PM everyone who joined someones wishlist and email. This will be the person who your giving a gift to.

4. On December 23rd - 27th choose what game from their wishlist they will be getting and send them their game, and receive a gift from your Secret Santa as well :D

What is Steam?

Steam is like the Playstation Network or Xbox Live of the PC. It is completly free to join and allows for digital downloads of games often times at very very cheap prices with sales going on weekly. It can be obtained here.  If you don't have it, right now is a perfect time to check it out. Just message anyone involved in it right now if they want to befriend you. If you have any matching games you can play together :)

#1. The most requested game was Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, until the steam deal came out for it to be only 2 dollars. After that it was Dues Ex and Plants Vs. Zombies. As of the 17th because of yet another deal, (however on direct 2 drive) it is now Plants Vs. zombies, leading by 1.

Definitely a cool idea. I wish the other digital distribution platforms offered a similar service. I will commit a firm yes or no after I have a chance to look over my finances, up coming expenses, and have done at least some Christmas shopping for the little one (she comes before relative strangers, understandably). Ideally I will participate.

Oh, and what are we talking in euros here? I don't know how Steam uses the exchange rates, and I think we should look into that

I'm not really good with the euro rates, but try to think of buying a "budget game" Something along the line of a Greatest Hit title price range or bargain bin. I think 7 - 15 euros would close to the equivalent.

Also does someone know if their is going to be problems with giving Steam gifts between countries? I heard somewhere that their isn't, but i would like to double check.

For now I'm going to get some sleep though as it's 4:16 AM.

I wonder how the exchange rates will work out if we do it.
