What!!!!!!!!

You pre-ordered U2 from Amazon to get an exclusive map to show you where some treasures were, when you could have easily gone on gamefaqs.........madness........

This. I don't really understand the point in buying strategy guides or anything similar because you can just go on GameFAQs and you're good to go.

Edit: Unless you collect strategy guides or something.

I don't understand the point of owning a current generation console and handheld and getting like 7 games. It just seems like a waste.

Im backing Boutros on this one. This is good marketing but illegual, its false representation.

"Pre-order "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves" and get an Amazon exclusive treasure map. This bonus video strategy reveals the secret locations of treasures hidden within the game and can be viewed on both the PS3 and PSP systems."

They could have said: "This bonus video strategy reveals the secret location of SOME of the treasures hidden or of 6 of the treasures hidden or parts of the treasures hidden"

But they did not because they wanted people to assume they would get a full treasures map. This is what we call false representation:

Fraudulent, negligent, or innocent misstatement, or an incomplete statement, of a material fact.

Anyone in their right mind would assume they get a treasure map of all treasures, anyone saying something else is lying to himself. I agree that its not a big deal since you can find this info on internet anyway but still by principle I am as angry as Boutros.

We should not tolerate that company act like that because it could become a bigger problem and you never know where it stops. Heres another example of what it could be: If on PSN you purchase something that say: this item will unlock the extra options of uncharted 2. And then this unlock only 2 of the extra option out of 50. It would be false representation even if they never say it would unlock all options. Stating things in a way that make it looks like you will receive a different things than what your getting is illegual, particularly if it was formulated that way in knowing people would assume wrong things.

You totally get it ;)

While I agree they didn't have the best wording for this bonus, your example I bolded is not correct. The sentence you wrote includes the word "the". Having "the" in the sentence "this item will unlock the extra options of uncharted 2" implies it would unlock all of the extra options. What amazon wrote was "...reveals the secret locations of treasures hidden within the game" notice they don't have a "the" inbetween the words "of" and "treasure". This implies it will reveal the location of some treasures, but not neccesarily all. Fancy wordwork indeed, but they didn't lie in anyway.

It's true they didn't lied.

But fooling people like they did by playing with words is not correct and honest at all.

Sue Amazon for $10 million and use the money to hire somebody to draw you a treasure map.

I had to get the strategy guide for Fallout 3 GOtY cause it was absolutelly absurd..... it was a hard cover colectible eddition.... I just wanted to say I had it ^_^ ....

OT: being that I worked in advertizing for over 4 years I know that it has to be disclosed that it does not reveal all treasure locations unless you want a s*** storm on your hands

I had preordered Uncharted 2 from amazon for the treasure map thing. After seeing this thread I emailed them about my dissatisfaction about the treasure map. They promptly emailed me back offering me 20% off of my purchase that will be refunded within the next few days back to my credit card. Seems like a good deal considering I was expecting to buy Uncharted 2 for full price when released.

Honestly I didn't care too much about the actual treasure map that came with Uncharted 2 that much. I was probably just going to go to a store when it was released and buy it. So I am thrilled that I got Uncharted 2 for $51.50 with release day delivery when if I were to have gone to a store it would have cost me $64.20.
