Gotta do something to appease over SC: Conviction being a M$ exclusive.

It is very misleading to only show one logo at the end of these ads. It makes people think that the game is exclusive to that one console. MS and Sony need to stop doing that. For those in the know, it doesn't matter. But the typical casual gamer (I'm not talking about people who only play Wiisports, Wiifit and Pop Cap Games. I'm talking about people who just play games casually and don't really follow the games sites) could be mislead into thinking the game is exclusive.
For eg. Didn't the Metal Gear Solid: Rising ad at E3 only have the 360 and xbox live logos? A friend of mine with a PS3 was confused into thinking the game would be 360 exclusive.

Not around here. Sony has paid for numerous exclusive advertising campaigns.
Sony and MS seem to be focusing on third party titles that best represent what their console already has to offer. MS is going after MW2, to shore up the impression that the 360 is the king of shooters, fending off Sony in NA and to a lesser extent EU, while Sony is going with the third person action/adventure title, playing off the vibe they have going with Uncharted, and even hearkening back to MGS4, given the parallels between a guy like Altair and Snake. Two similar guys from two different eras.
You can also look at it from a network standpoint. Microsoft's going after the big online games while Sony focuses on the big singleplayer experiences (granted Uncharted 2 has one hell of a multiplayer mode, but the focal point of the series will always be the singleplayer).
Given Sony's onslaught with the price cut and Slim, MS is obviously backing off the attack and trying to secure the base they already have, while the guys at Sony finally have the chance to build a decent image of their own to stand on.

Assassin's Creed did pretty good on Ps3 when compared install base with Xbox 360...Ubisoft itself said it did suprisingly good on Ps3.
Take my love, take my land..

Excellent analysis sir.
I saw about 5 Sony ads while watching the World series tonight, one for the online capabilities of the ps3, and the majority for R&C. Then near the end of the game I saw a MW2 comercial which then showed the 360 limited edition MW2 afterwards.
Sony is absolutely stepping up its game, because they know at $300 the PS3 marketing can be more effective in driving consumers towards the product than any amount of advertising would have had on a $400 PS3.
On another note; I think people are overestimating the power that MW2 will have towards over-shadowing other releases. I know MW2 comes out very soon, but then there isn't anything afterwards till next year... except AC2.
Bravo AC, dont back down, you now have a strong release window because every other dev is too afraid of IW and MW2.

I must say i have AC and i played it for an hour and never touched it again, i too believe sony shouldn't waste money on advertising mutiplatform games like this.

Different is that MW2 will sell millions more on the 360 while AC2 will probally sell few hundred thousands more if they are very lucky. |
The fact that any multiplat game can sell more on PS3 than 360, by even a thousand units, is an accomplishment in itself, what with 7 million less consoles sold than the 360.
Good move for sony good to see them finally spending ht money needed to market their games effectivly. However even with this extra marketing AC2 will probably sell more on the 360. It will probably be close though
Long Live SHIO!

I would agree about AC1 being "meh" but :
- AC2 will be far better
- AC2 is a true console game not like the CoD6 FPS that below to a category that is still primarly on PC
- AC2 may appeal more to the European while CoD6 is more US targeted
- AC2 bundle on his way (349 euros) while the 360 will have the CoD6 bundle :again : europe vs us
Time to Work !
