MS is going after MW2, to shore up the impression that the 360 is the king of shooters, fending off Sony in NA and to a lesser extent EU, while Sony is going with the third person action/adventure title, playing off the vibe they have going with Uncharted, and even hearkening back to MGS4, given the parallels between a guy like Altair and Snake. Two similar guys from two different eras. |
Excellent analysis sir.
I saw about 5 Sony ads while watching the World series tonight, one for the online capabilities of the ps3, and the majority for R&C. Then near the end of the game I saw a MW2 comercial which then showed the 360 limited edition MW2 afterwards.
Sony is absolutely stepping up its game, because they know at $300 the PS3 marketing can be more effective in driving consumers towards the product than any amount of advertising would have had on a $400 PS3.
On another note; I think people are overestimating the power that MW2 will have towards over-shadowing other releases. I know MW2 comes out very soon, but then there isn't anything afterwards till next year... except AC2.
Bravo AC, dont back down, you now have a strong release window because every other dev is too afraid of IW and MW2.
