Forums - Microsoft - MS to remove Party Chat?

Ummm can you "party chat" while being on the other team as someone you are chatting with? I think thats the problem they are talking about, not about after you die.

I don't play a lot of COD on-line, but as far as Gears go, it's pretty obvious when a team is party chatting.  You'll see members of the opposing squad magically avoid the most well placed of grenades, and instantly know exactly where you are, even when you are nowhere near them.

That being said, I've been given the same information from my party before, so t doesn't bother me.

If developers choose to do this, I'd like the option to mute the other team.

That's another annoying part of party chats, but I'm guilty of doing the same thing myself so I shouldn't complain.

Had no intention of getting MW2 because it just doesn't feel like a me type of game, but if there was any possibility, I think it's dead now. Party chat is huge, I HATE listening to randoms.

I think this is a good addition...one that i like..NO...one that is probably necccesary to the overal fairness of the game...hmm, yea i guess *shrugs*. At any rate, it takes away the people that have friends on the other team, and use party chat to give away enemy positions (team killing so to speak).

modern warfare 2 just gets shitter and shitter lol

End of 2012 prediction:

xbox 360 : 73-75 million  playstation 3 : 72-74 million  wii : 104-105 million

Most hyped for :

Bioshock: infinte, The Last Of Us, Alan Wake's American Nightmare and Agent

It's a good idea to give them the option, I think. Chromehounds had a pretty cool set up where you had to control points in order to communicate with team members, and the introduction of parties shot that to hell.

For everyone who feels hurt by the title, compare mine with the source. And actually read what the article says. And what the thread is about.

You want a good solution? After you die lock the viewpoint to a third person above and slightly behind view. (that means you can only see what is above or in the close immediate radius, but not the entire view of the player.

That'd be a lot easier and better than taking away my Party Chat, since I only ever play games like CoD when I have a few friends I want to play with.

I agree.  Team communication is a rather large aspect of online games in my opinion.  And developers should have the option to have complete control over the way communication happens.  Players should be able to hear nearby communications from both enemy and friendly players(although if characters have helmets, enemies would not be able to hear).  And you should be able to hear friendlies over the team radio frequency.

I had a feeling MS would be making updates to their party chat functionality for online gaming.
