Forums - Sales - Valkyria Chronicles(PS3) VS Star Ocean 4(360)

@jarrod you do realize that SRPG's do not sell big. Hell what was the last SRPG to break 1 million excluding FF:Tactics ?

VC has sold incredibly well for a SRPG and a new IP.

*sigh*...I really hate threads that involve SO...it really gets me flustered when reading them.

I'm not arguing genre popularity, though even then it can be argued that SRPGs are generally low tech, low end, low promotion affairs (like Disgaea, FFTA, Luminous Arc, Fire Emblem, SRT, Cross Edge, etc, etc), which is something Valkyria goes against.  You can't really compare it to other genre entrants that still look 2 gens older, it got a vastly bigger budget and bigger push than any SRPG in recent memory (probably since... well FFT comparably).   If it'd really sold incredibly well, it's sequel wouldn't have jumped ship to PSP...

It's about which one will reach a sales benchmark. No reason to get flustered over a game you haven't played before.

It must have sold well, hence... The sequel.

And they are already hinting at bringing Valkyria 3 to PS3.

I think VC is better game, but won't SO4 easily sell more when it hits PS3 (which I understand it is)? Even if it sells terribly it should get an extra boost over 2 consoles - or are we only considering VC on PS3 vs SO4 on 360?

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

VC of course. It's far better than SO4

VC

which is a surprise, who thought it would sell more than a Star OCean game when it launched

Well, Star Ocean is on the 360, so it is really no shocker. Besides VC is an EPIC game.

Oh 360, the console where JRPGs have been wasted the last years. I think there are a lot of disappointed JRPG devs out there that have been wasting their time and effort on failing 360 JRPGs.

well thank god for 2010 then eh? lol

Valkyria Chronicles on 560k. Star Ocean 4 on 550k
VC is better than SO 4. But I have not played either game. VC is a AAA game. SO 4 had mixed reviews.
A sales comparison between VC and Lost Odyssey would be more interesting. LO on 810k. Both good games.
VC should sell more ltd sales than SO 4 and get to 600k before SO 4 reaches 600k.

The sales race is between VC and LO to reach 1 million life timesales.
