To be honest I was much more impressed by GOW3. Heavy Rain has great character models and rain effects but they've definately sacrificed the rest of the games visuals in order to achieve that. Oh it looks like it will be a wandering around QTE game as that's what I got to play. The QTE varies depending on when you press them. So if you miss the first time around, you can carry on but you've just made things more difficult for yourself. I think it's going to be an interactive story game, the focus will be on story telling and character development and the QTE is there to keep the player engaged time to time.

Different strokes I guess because I saw very little improvement from GOW 2 and GOW 3 and its apparent now that it wont be one of the best graphics on the ps3 as GOW 2 was THE best the ps2 had to offer in that department.

Heavy Rain is definitely shaping up to be something special just the mention of it has me frantically looking for my copy of Indigo Prophecy  so that I can replay that awesome game(only did one playthrough).........

God of war will get goty next year, what i'm hearing about it is mindblowing. Gran Turismo 5 will be it's biggest competitor.

The real reason? The only publisher who would realistically bankroll such an expensive and niche project is Sony.

They are the biggest spenders on average (median) per project than any other publisher out there and they spend their money on less 'mainstream' games.

Some people love them for it, but it does make them produce a wide spectrum of games artistically which may or may not make them money.

Tease.

2 games no one has played will be GOTY and the runner up next year....AWESOME!!!....and what are you hearing about GOW 3 through that amazing time machine of yours?

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

I'm especially glad he starts his reply with a sigh and the "doesn't matter what I say"-vibe :)

if they made a game on the 360 and actually tried to push it too its limits then i could respect this only possible crap statement i keep hearing about. when a 3rd party company really tries to push both systems and then says the ps3 can only do this game, then i will respect that statement alot more, u know. i will get this game on day 1 for sure, i just wish companies would stop using "only possible" crap.

How'd you get: "It's only possible on PS3" from, "PS3 by far the best platform"? He didn't insult any other console and some of you act like he's the anti-Christ. READ what the man says and get an understanding.

Indeed.  He just said it was the best platform for it... and even then qualified it by stating that he grew up as a developer with the playstation system stating his own bias upfront.

The whole thing is as good as a non-statement.

It'd be like me saying "I grew up with RC Cola my whole life... but when it comes to servering a cola with Barbeque... RC cola is just the best cola for the job!

the game it's pretty indeed so they must be doing something right
this year alone we had killzone2, uncharted 2, as graphic power houses, adn 2010 we have heavy rain, god of war 3 , and GT5.
nothing on consoles graphic wise stand even close to them.

This thread is like the "Valve not liking PS3" all over again

the fanboys are here.

but the difference here is that David Cage never said "the Xbox 360 is a piece of crap hardware"

I think he's right, the PS3 is the best platform for the game. But not for the reasons he stated. I think the main factor in making the PS3 the best choice in terms of technology is the blu-ray.

Heavy Rain has a shitload of assets and if Heavy Rain had been on the 360, I think they would either have changed the game to make it fit on several discs (which would have limited the game's main mechanic) or they would have limited their scope so the game would fit on one disc.
Disc wise, it probably could have been on one disc on the Wii, but then the whole realism-aspect would kind of have been lost.

Secondly, I think the PS3 userbase is also the most likely userbase to pick up on such a game, when you look at the demographics. Just like Disney and Warren Spector decided that Epic Mickey was best suited to the audience on the Wii, so does Heavy Rain best suit the PS3 audience.

In my opinion.

Sony spends their money where they deem it can differentiate their brand. It works.

Relative to what exactly?
