There is a GBA version.
It's story is weak compared to 4 and 6. Still a fun game.

I got a hacked and patched version in 2000 on Kefka's Tower site, it was the best rom sites ever ;) Almost all the jap only SNES, NES, Genesis, GB, Master System, GameGear, MSX games I got them from that site.
Current PC Build
CPU - i7 8700K 3.7 GHz (4.7 GHz turbo) 6 cores OC'd to 5.2 GHz with Watercooling (Hydro Series H110i) | MB - Gigabyte Z370 HD3P ATX | Gigabyte GTX 1080ti Gaming OC BLACK 11G (1657 MHz Boost Core / 11010 MHz Memory) | RAM - Corsair DIMM 32GB DDR4, 2400 MHz | PSU - Corsair CX650M (80+ Bronze) 650W | Audio - Asus Essence STX II 7.1 | Monitor - Samsung U28E590D 4K UHD, Freesync, 1 ms, 60 Hz, 28"

well characters will have an affinity to certain things, even in FFX for alot of the game lulu was the main black mage, yuna the white mage/summoner & so on. Its people who grind like mad & want each character to have EVERYTHING who in the end make them "all generic" Thats not how I play, I do grind, but just enough to get past the bosses.....so for me the characters don't really ever become the same. Most people play like me.....mega hardcore people grind & get everyone on everything so S-E does diffrentiate the characters for 70% of the FF13 buyers who will only grind enough to get past bosses. |
Actually Yuna owned Lulu in every way...well from a gameply stand point. She does way more damage with Black Magic than Lulu. Lulu still has two other advantages though.

Right but what i meant was that from the start of the game anyone can become anything. Which means my main character may be nothing like your main character so therefore none of our characters will have any relevence to eachother when we talk about the game. It means they are blank slates they lose personality. I just remember in FFVII everyone had their own weapon. So Cloud had his swords and Barret had his guns etc. and that added to the personality of the characters. In XII anyone could potentially use any weapon and thus they all became inter changable and they lost a lot of personality. They just became a skin, not a character. In VII they each had their own unique limits but in XII anyone could unlock any of the Summons (or whatever they were called) so therefore they didn't become character specific so it just makes everyone the same. It's pretty boring. And makes the characters a lot less endearing.
Customizing characters is fun, but when everything is customizable it takes away the uniqueness of the characters. I have not played FFX so I don't know to what extent each character was unique in it. I just didn't like how they did XII and I loved how they did VII and XIII seems to be much more like XII.

they had their own weapon which you couldn't change at all as far as I can remember, that takes away most of your complaints
Trust me, the sphere grid is VERy different from the License board of FF12

ok that is good. As long as their is some distinction between the characters then I am all for it. Is the sphere grid just for like magic? Or what exactly did it unlock? I'm all for everyone having their own unique weapons!

thats how the sphere grid is
BTW it has things like HP + 20, MP + 20, Attack + 20, Cure
so its for magic & your attributes.....I LOVED, check out the video
oh & I recommend playing FFX, as FF13 is being made by the FF10 team (FF12 was made by other guys)....so you will feel at home in FF13 if you play FF10 first.
