all microsoft do is rip people off

windows 7 hahahahaaaa

what do u mean by W7?

W7>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Vista and XP

even snow leopard (and im a mac user but im using 7 and its AWESOME)

THANKS TO BOOTCAMP

why do we need a new OS every 4 years? Think Unix which has remained unchanged and stable for close to 30 years.

I am not saying that every OS becomes like Unix. However why can't we have the same OS and then install features on top of it?

And then you have to consider how every OS iteration means that the hardware becomes obsolete and you have to buy new hardware to support.

Thats how M$ is ripping off a large number of consumers who only use their computers for home computing.

M$ is a for-profit corporation. Not a charity. They aren't in the freeware business. They are in the business of making money. If they release just one Windows OS and then keep upgrading that without asking anything in return, those profits off the sale of the OS are going to dry up eventually. There are ongoing costs associated with supporting a piece of software. That's why they gotta release a new OS every X amount of years. They're gonna have to get the funding from somewhere. Also apparently Microsoft's stock price has stagnated. If that is true, the shareholders are probably not very happy right now. Now is not a good time for Microsoft to feel charitable. All those heads at Microsoft might be filthy rich but its their responsibility to deliver a profit to their shareholders (I'm sure Bill Gates doesn't give a crap about his net worth. If Billy Boy was only in it for the money, he would have sold his shares in MS once it got hot and went off to a island paradise somewhere and enjoyed all his money up until retirement instead of working hard all those decades for the company.).

I don't know what can be more lame than these stupid conspiracy theories....

i think microsoft originally planned on this, but after seeing the public outcry over this, probably decided not to.

There is no way Microsoft would put forth such an ill-conceived plan like this. If the price of one year of LIVE went up to a hundred dollars, I'm confident that 90% of Xbox 360 users, myself included, would hop over to PS3.

eh...I think you're wrong on this one. How many times have there been PSN vs XBL threads in which 360 fans won't even praise PSN for the advancements PSN has made, "wouldn't pay a dime for PSN, compared to the 'value' of XBL", and would "happily pay for Live, whatever they charged" because you "pay for what you get"?

M$ (with the X360) has America by the teet, which is why many people have this sentiment, both on forums and in real life in the US. Plus, I can see the rationale "it's less than $10 a month"

I'm not saying that I believe this is true but it really wouldn't be surprising. I doubt it would have much to do with trying to instigate a rush of renewals but rather to try to gauge the public response to such an action. Governments and companies leak stories all the time in order to measure the public response as it allows them to deny the leak as a rumour if the response is very negative.

So, Microsoft was doing this to make ppl believe and make them join or renew their subscription because they thought Microsoft was going to jack the price up of live?

Wow, Microsoft has a bunch of scam artist in their staff..

If this is true than a PS3 will be an automatic impulse buy to me.

But were all too stupid to know what rookits are so it doesnt really matter.....

Like, a program thats being overrun, hacked, tampered in form of malwares, trojans. etc.

Agreed. I hope MS reads the VGChartz forum. There are plenty of x360 owners ready to pay "anything" for Live.

MS should charge at least $150.00 per annum for live. ...$200.00 even.
