Forums - Microsoft - Why Modern Warfare 2 360 bundles will be huge!

I still think will make a good improvement but not that much, like halo odst, but if you are searching for argument to convince yourself about a possible turn around again for 360, sorry but right now it almost impossible, still think 360 need another price cut.

I think we may have something here with Portstation 3, is this an old phrase?

Every time someone writes a post like the OP did stating along the lines, "my friend has seen the light" because of this or because of that, and then this translates to probable huge sales of the console in question, I just shake my head.

For example, my friend who is a huge 360 fan, goes out and gets a PS3 Slim because of "blu-ray". He got it bundled with Uncharted 2. He is now saying things I thought he would never say. Things like, "Uncharted 2 is such a good game. How much is KZ2 and R2 these days, Rob?". I tell him they are cheap. My friend then says, "gee the PS3 actually has some good games".

This is the same guy that said he couldn't find one game on the system that would entice him to buy it and that it was only for "blu-ray".

So really, I am somewhat skeptical that a bundled multi-platform game like MW2 is going to change the minds of the skeptical PS3 fanboi and make them see the light about the 360.

The bundles are a limited edition.

They wont be that huge.

No offence but Microsoft said the Elite was going to be limited edition too. I remember FutureShop advertising the Elite saying while quantities last, limited edition. Other retailers in Canada like Zellers made similiar announcements. I rushed to the store thinking I was getting such a great deal, one that I couldn't pass up. If I waited just alittle while then I might miss the Elite altogether.

Well I paid 650$ for my Elite launch month thinking it was limited edition. Now all these years later and looky they are still on store shelves. They weren't limited at all, it was just a smart sales pitch. The ModernWarFare2 bundle will be on shelves as long as their is demand, I doubt it will be any more limited edition then past software bundles. They will be on shelves for at least a year if not longer.

I mean take for example the limited Edition Halo 2. I remember buying it and going to trade it in at EBGames. EBGames told me that their were so many limited editions turned in that I would actually get less trade in value for it then the normal edition. Microsoft has a way of milking this whole limited edition thing and they do it very well.

Limited Edition causes gamers to make ratical purchases and increases impulse buying. When someone thinks they have a limited time offer they rush into the stores to buy it. Trust me this bundle will still be on store shelves next Christmas, unless the nextbox launches next fall!

Im sorry but your friend must not really be a big fanboy to be jumping ships over a bundle of a game that is multiplat.

Yah you know how long it took me to jump ships. I started a Nintendo fan on the 2600 and never owned a competitors console. Infact today I don't even own a competitors console (According to Nintendo themselves lol) It took Nintendo telling all its fans that Microsoft and Sony were no longer competitors. If Nintendo changed their minds next gen and went back to competing I'm not sure I'd be able to return to Nintendo only gaming.

Long story short real fans don't abandon their games consoles for a multiplatform game. Their has to be a much larger reason. Probubly various IP's he wants that are going to be or are already exclusive to the 360. Then for a fanboy to actually trade in their companies platform to get a competitors platform is not a fanboy at all.

I know I today would never part with my Wii or DS. Why? because I am a Nintendo lover. Any true fan of any single company is not going to bail on said company for a single multiplatform game. It just wouldn't happen!

O man it's 400$?!?!?
I guess I can only buy 1 bundle then...

does it at least have wifi? Or am I going to have to run a cord on my ceiling?

ah f**@ it , I'm just gunna stick with the portstation 3 then.

The case looks sorta cool though, i guess.

OFFT: anyone notice that there are wo controllers with the bundle? Does this mean co-op?

As I believe this is an attempt at sarcasm/humour I will not labour the point but I always advocate homeplugs over Wifi. Minimal cabling best connection short of a lan cable and so simple somebody switching from a portstation (Trademark pending) could set it up.

Why would I need to use any wires at all as long as I have wifi with my portstation?

Especially because I don't play online so much (I have full time job) so those 2 extra maps that M$ monehatted to release 2 months later on PoS won't bother me that much.

I am pretty sure the PS3 is not competing in the netbook market so it is not likely to move much. Also as I stated you get a much more reliable connection with no inteference. This ultimately translates to low latency when playing online. Of course you state you do not play online so by all means enjoy your WiFi, just do not complain if it drops out or additional networks interfere with your setup.

Winner of the 2010 VGC Holiday sales prediction thread with an Average 1.6% accuracy rating. I am indeed awesome.

Kinect as seen by PS3 owners ...if you can pick at it   ...post it ... Did I mention the 360 was black and Shinny? Keeping Sigs obscure since 2007, Passed by the Sig police 5July10.

Ok, we all know this game is going to be huge. We all know that X360 will be the lead selling sku.

The bundle is targeting anyone who has not jump on the shooter craze of this generation of consoles. MS didn't even do a pack in for Gears or Halo games. This is to grab anyone who hasn't "jumped in" or "played b3yond". This for those people who has more friends with Xbox 360s then the PS3 and want to game with them (which I expect is why the OP's friends are jumping consoles). This is also for those who have a Wii only and want another console that they want to be part of the action and not the two year old port that the Wii is getting.

That said, there will be a big bump in sales for this but I don't know if will be big enough to outsell the Wii and PS3. Only time will tell.

I'm just saying...

@Joelcool7
He was actually a huge fanboy for ps3 . He always defended the ps3s games and every chance he got talk about the 360s problems like red ring lol , he was definatlya fanboy since he got it the day it came out .

End of 2012 prediction:

xbox 360 : 73-75 million  playstation 3 : 72-74 million  wii : 104-105 million

Most hyped for :

Bioshock: infinte, The Last Of Us, Alan Wake's American Nightmare and Agent

if it was exclusive, then yes it would be good, but it isn't, the ps3 will also get a boost in sales from modern warfare 2 (on top of its already higher sales).
