Forums - Sony - The one Way Sony Can Take Next-Gen Easily

Heres my disclaimer: This Came To Me In A Dream ->Im Not Saying Sony will, will not etc its just something for discussion that I find interesting IMO

In order to ensure that the PS4 is more successful for Sony they need to have the most important part down. Price. The PS4 can not exceed $400.00 at launch or it will fail. I hope they learned from their mistakes and are ready to re-use and upgrade most of the stuff in the PS3.

Secondly, while Motion Control is nice they need to give people the  OPTION and not make it the standard for their consoles. And now the last thing they need to ensure that they have a successful launch, is the Line-Up.

Most of the time in recent video game history consoles only have one or two games that are even worth any attention at launch. Except the Dreamcast which IMO still had the best launch line up. Sony needs to have titles that span across several genres in order to get a foot hold into next gen. For North America, give us a Naughty Dog game at launch, either Uncharted 3 or Jak V (Jak IV I want on me PSTrey), For Europe, it would be nice to have Gran Turismo 6 launch with the console, and for Japan it would be smart if Sony co-funded the development of a Final Fantasy VII remake for the PS4's launch but logic tells me that would be too Epic. So for Japan have a JRPG ready something that fans have been wanting. Legend of Dragoon 2 ring a bell?

These are just my thoughts feel free to agree or disagree, Im in the mood to envoke a healthy discussion.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

re-releasing PS3 but with extremely casual game selections, motion control and a group of ultra-adorable mascots.

at 199 price.

I will personally stop buying Playstation, but that is one way to win next gen

THe launch is major

if SONY can get a $299 PS4 with a GT, FF at launch they have sealed nex-gen

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

of course, sony can head back to the top next gen, but Microsoft can d o that also. its about what they do.

The only problem i see is how nintendo will bring another console. If they make a Wii 2, i dont think any "core gamer" will buy it. And all the Casual Gamers will stick to their old Wii, til support ends for it, which wont happen that quick. (So i think Nintendo will stick very long to the original Wii.)

but im really looking forward, and Sony will have some advantage then, because they know what are the PS3´s problems.

- > Blu Ray drives will be much cheaper then they are today. And of course they will be much faster.
- > Blu Ray´s disk space "can be" increased dramatically, if they need to. (prototype´s with up to 400GB space already exists.)

-> Teh Cell: Developers are getting more and more used to it.
-> With higher Focus on RAM and Graphics , PS4 could handle U3 Engine (and many more "PC Game Engine´s") much easier. (Of course, they sure have to increase "the cell" too, but .. you know what i mean.)

so im really looking forward.

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

they also should do what they should have done with the PS3 already!

give it an expansion port for optional BC

that way, the model can be produced cheaper, and they can sell BC as an accessory.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

$350 launch price maximum, re-use Cell & Blu-Ray (cheaper and easier for devs compared to PS3 launch), optional motion controls, launch the same time as MS/Ninty or before, launch with GT and other established franchises, lots of advertising especially in North America- that's how they can win.

This is all very obvious stuff, organizing a successful PS4 launch can be virtually idiot-proof. But Sony may, and most likely will, find some way to screw it up.

Bundle Gran Turismo 6 (or 7) with PS4 on launch, and that'll ensure amazing sales.
GT5 is popular in all parts of the world. Or maybe bundle Lair 2 with PS4.
I wouldnt buy that.

Didn't you make a similar thread like a month or two ago?

4 ≈ One

No no no they should use

Blue Ray with 2x speeds and 25 gig max storage

Cell 2 thats 10x harder to dev for

256Mbs of ram shared with CPU/GPU

and no controllers .

im kidding of course, i think Sony learned from this gen.

Maybe a nice new controller design too? NA clearly loves FPS games and the analog stick layout makes it annoying to get your FPS freak on with those things.
