I doubt there'd be any major changes if it was exclusive.

It would be a different game. That's common knowledge.

Were talking about a fighting game here....and it's Tekken.

Had it been a more complex game whose devs wanted to put more emphasis on graphics or some other technical area, I bet the change would be alot bigger.

If Tekken 6 fails, blaming it on being multiplat would be a poor excuse.

I'm not going to blame it's multiplatform status if it does fail, but I'm am telling you the reality of the situation, and the reality is, if it were exclusive, it WOULD be a different game.

Hmm...With all due respect, my friend, I'm afraid I also can't see how it would be a different game...However, he's wrong by saying blaming the multiplat move is a poor excuse. If it didn't go multi, this game would've released a long time ago. But now with so many fighters released this year, its hype died out.

If this game sells poorly, I will be quite disappointed, but it's really 80% Namco Bandai's fault for the multiplat move, and 20% Sony's fault for not securing this game. You have no idea how pissed off I was at Sony for letting FFXIII, Tekken 6, and Assassin's Creed go multiplat.

Well Namco can't really depend on Sony alone anymore. I mean the PS1 and PS2 had a userbase of 100+ million. The PS3 userbase is only a small fraction of that. Releasing it on both consoles pretty much guarantees a larger number of combined sales as opposed to exclusive sales. Its not like PS3 exclusives are known for particularly outstanding sales.

Also releasing it now is probably best due to all the fighters in the past year. I mean there has been SSF2:HD, MK vs DC, SC4, SF4, MvC2, etc. There currently are no other major fighters to look forward too.

Somehow the game is less of a game if its multiplatform.

If its exclusive it gets all the hype.

Heres how it is.

PS3 Fans - Hype every exclusive up and make it a 360 killer

360 Fans - Dont hype any game up, it  could be the best game ever and no one would mention it.

Wii fans- They got so many games coming out they cant hype them all up.

True, but I don't think they would miss out on much sales if they kept Tekken 6 exclusive and released a long time ago. Look at MGS4, for example.

I could understand the case for Square Enix, but what disappointed me was the fact that they cut Japanese voice acting from the Western PS3 version just because the 360's DVD format limited such, among other things.

Assassin's Creed, on the other hand, I fully blame Sony.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. It went from being a 2008 PS3 exclusive fighting game to a 2009 multiplat fighting game. And that makes a lot of difference.

Tekken was actually one of the reasons I bought a PS3, and now I just have no interest. I don't know why (and no, it's not because it's multiplat).

I knew you would mention MGS4. Why? What else could you mention?

Anyhow, the game is far more likely to sell better as multiplat.

Wii fans tend to hype their games to death as well. Little King Story, Conduit, Madworld, No More Heroes, Dead Space, etc. The games they hype though have terrible sales.

Well, it is a good example.

As for it being more likely to sell better as a multiplat, this would be true in 2008. This year is crowded with fighting games.

Well your good example is basically the only example. Also MGS4 is a major release for the PS3. Tekken on the other hand isn't GOTY material.

Those fighting games from 2008 are now old news. They could have stole some of Tekken's thunder if released close together. Obviously Namco didn't want the sales of Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur 4 competing with each other.

Lmao, I know. Anyways:

Tekken may not be GOTY material (Tekken 3 is the only one, I think), but it is (or at least, WAS) a strong brand name.

I think Tekken 6 would've been fine if released in December, since Soul Caliber released in late July.
