what are they gunna do?

They lost the HDDVD war (which they held a big interest in, and even financed toshiba in order to acheive sub 90$ prices). That was super important to their goal because it would ensure that sony would not be able to do anything in the computer market with BR.

What you think they are going to go even deeper in the hole just to make sure sony loses? Even if they are rich, they still have investors, investors who will pull out if they intentionally post losses.

you are right, but you are only right if we look at averages

I mean this holiday as sales EXPLODE, the gap will increase......especially in EU

FF13's launch week is the 2nd BIGGEST week of the year.....imagine how well PS3 will do that week

all I'm saying is that I'm confident, maybe you can call me overconfident, but I am biased towards PS3...so oh well lol

Oh yeah, i was thinking about it too. MS doesn't monopolizes video game market (yet?).

1. it's consumers that will choose who will win not sony or ms.

2. it's not like like MS or sony have unlimited resources.  both do what they can with what they have.  sony is putting their resources into having an extensive 1st party line up and timely price cuts.  MS is putting their resources into 3rd party timed exclusives, exclusive dlc, and natal.  we just have to wait and see which plan the consumers will respond to more.  personally, i think the sucess/failure of natal is really what will determine who wins this race.

It is trending above 360, it's the 3rd fastest selling console of all time (for now) and even if the next gen begins, if it comes 2nd... It is still 2nd place.

If sales are like this...
360- 50,000,000
PS3- 49,999,999
And then suddenly the next Xbox releases with 360 being taken from the market, PS3 would still overtake and be in 2nd when all is said and done.

49,000,000 vs 50,000,000? Is it REALLY an issue at that point? I know, I know, a win is a win. But think about that for a sec, the PS2 (if it were a person) would be laughing HARD at the PS3. To be that close to the Xbox, after literally destroying it last gen, is a victory for the Xbox IMO.

IF the Ps3 can keep an average of 100k for the next 72 weeks, then the PS3 will have completely caught up with the 360. If the PS3 for some reason manages to do more on weeks of release for some games (Gran Turismo, FFXIII, and God of War 3) then the gap might close a little more.

Well to many Xbox's victory against Gamecube was "notable"

imo it won't really MATTER as both of em will probably get the same games for their duration....90% of their libraries will be the same even when this gen ends

most devs see them as 1 platform
