huzzah!
...i think this holiday ps3 could close the gap by another 1-2M. ps3 will still be behind but considering the overall numbers the gap won't mean a whole lot.

I agree with you. I don't think anyone thinks first place is a possibility, but I still think it is likely that the PS3 catches the 360 despite the head start.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Look at how it has to sell: The PS3 will need to remain @ 210,000+ levels while the 360 needs to stay South of 150,000. You see that happening for long periods of time? |
In holidays the systems sell much more, no? What if PS3 sells 6 million plus and 360 sells 3.5 million? It could be?

I wouldn't say its grim.
It is trending above 360, it's the 3rd fastest selling console of all time (for now) and even if the next gen begins, if it comes 2nd... It is still 2nd place.
If sales are like this...
360- 50,000,000
PS3- 49,999,999
And then suddenly the next Xbox releases with 360 being taken from the market, PS3 would still overtake and be in 2nd when all is said and done.

Honestly, anyone thinking that the PS3 is going to beat the 360 this gen is a little bonkers.
Yes, this has been great for Sony and I honestly hope they continue to have great sales. But if you think Microsoft is going to sit around on its laurels while its competitor catches up , well then you are flat out insane. All they would need to do is time a 159.99 price cut with the holiday season, and they could very easily walk away with the crown on Christmas. I also think that Sony kind of blew its load a little too early. I don't really see another system seller in the cards until FF13 and God of War 3.

looooool...... Seriously though, it's feasible, I just don't think it's going to happen. Microsoft came into this gen with one thing on their minds, to defeat Sony. I can't see that fight given up now, especially after all the headway they've made. |
although ps3 is a PLAY STATION n a low price now
and maybe 360 will gain ground for next xbox next gen with japanese having bought 1 million it sets a good opening for the next xbox

Holy crap
In in the slow months to, can't wait to see Holiday sales.

well it doesnt have too.
it keeps selling 5-7 million yearly it will pass it. even with the 720/ps4 in the market.
and that million lead was done in a 1 half months.
if ps3 could maintain selling like this it would pass it in next year. it won't but will do it eventually.
I think many people are buying a videogame with a blu-ray player these holidays.... Bump!

| CGI-Quality said: ^^ Sure, it COULD be, but it's unlikely. What's with you guys, you think Microsoft is just going to sit back and let Sony beat them? Come on guys, think about that... |
