u1 was sleeper hit which noone had expected, therefore low initial sales were just normal

on the contrary u2 was expected and hyped by everyone and his dog, the sales are front-loaded and that's why 800k sales are rather subpar for "the greatest game evar" or so proclaimed by our good friends ps3 fanboys

Internet hype can only go so far. It's not going to give Uncharted 2 an opening week on the level of Halo, GT or even MGS. Those are all massive franchises, and 830k is fantastic for a franchise which is still relatively small.

The way I see it U2 is a great game and deserves great sales.

I personally don't care how much it sells in the first week. Not that much anyway.

I am keen for it to sell well in it's lifetime.

I will be disappointed with less than 3million but expect much more.

The way this gen is going, looking to the past to see the future is a flawed science.

Ultimately when U2 is history and forgotten by most, it will be it's total sales that counts most,
not what it sold in the first week.

At least that's the case for naughty dog and sony anyway.

It did good. But not what i was expecting.

The first one did about 2.2Million before it was bundled.

I think 830K is a pretty impressive start for the second.

I made a thread about Lair being the greatest game of all time and it was locked.

i am really disappointed with these sales, the game has one of the highest metacritic scores of this gen, there are over 25 million PS3 owners, it should have sold at least 10 million first week, really one of the biggest bombs of the year "rolls eyes"

amazing sales! What is that 4th or 5th best opening week on the PS3? I'm pretty sure that's the best week for an IP that started this gen too (for PS3). FIFA, MGS, GTA, etc were all from the last generations

I am amazed at how 830k first week isn't amazing sales anymore. O_o

Especially for a game with just 18 months dev time. I may have already broke even or made profit, am I wrong?
