Yeah I guess so.
Though they dealt with something like that in Sith Lords, depending on your gender...

Through letting a group of men rape a waitress?
There are of course more though I just didn't want to list them. The point is the game let you have a massive control over the story, something KoToR did not do as boradly.

I think they will allow it, I mean fallout 3 has some pretty big choices.

Look, the decisions to let people commit rape or murder children isn't exactly a mark of high storytelling, even in a game that's about choice. I don't see it as a necessary advantage.

No it's not about story telling, it jsut shows how the world is as well as define your character based on his decision. So not much sotry to it. Also agreed on Fallout 3, it did push boundaries but not enough. In Fallout 2 I would have been able to become a prostitue fr caps or killed all the arrogant children in Little Town, something I SORELY missed in FO3.

Um I think he was talking about why the witcher will not be on the consoles among other things.

You said MGS4 story was so awesome. You were wrong but not absolutely completely wrong as the story was alright. I could go on, but honestly stop inflating MGS4. MGS > MGS4. |
I could go on too
stop inflating MGS1
For me MGS4's story was far better & a fitting end to gamings 2nd best franchise

Why you would read the enlarged text and then immediatly reply with the fact some books are 'shitty' I do not know. Go find the greatest, most well wrote and well told story in video games. It will be equal with one of those shitty trash novels you buy for £1 at the airport that you are meant to read on the plane and never mention or discuss with anyone once you step off. It isn't about reading enough books, is about not reading crap books. Comparing one form of crap to another doesn't make whichever is better good. |
Look I don't know what kind of impression you've gotten from Resident Evil, but the best stories in video games are comparable to the best stories in any other medium according to my experience. That's the other half of the parallel.
Hell, Sith Lords got me to talk about Nietszche more than the man himself did.
And yes, reducing gaming stories as far as you do is so absurd that it's almost painful to read.

I must have REALLY mised something in that game cause I so did not get that same impression. Comparing it to say, Count of Monte Cristo would be just wrong.

Half-Life 2 has done it best. You can't do everything but you are given a lot of freedom in the given area, and the tims when you can't act are because of other source so the feeling of being trapped is much stronger, the way video games should be. |
I agree with the first two paragraphs. MGS4's story is terrible - full of melodramatic cutscenes like Otacon crying over a one night stand. Repetitive and horrific dialogue, terrible character development (especially the bosses) and nanomachines being the answer to everything is a damn joke. Biggest disappointment this gen for me.
