Here is a list of franchises I would guess that this game may come from:

1080 (Wii Balanced Board compatible. This one really stands out as an option to me. Winter is coming and the game really hinges on how well it is executed with the use of the balance board..)
Cruis'n
Dr. Mario
Fire Emblem
Pilotwings
Wave Race

There are decent franchises from Nintendo but not Mario/Zelda/Metroid sized. I also noticed the odd 7 that was in the article.
