Forums - Nintendo - Where are the Hardcore Wii Nintendo Games?

They'll come in due time, but so far it's been 1 year and 6 months without anything worth from nintendo worth my money, except for Punch-Out Wii.

2009 will be much better, with Metroid OM, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Sin and Punishment 2, and New Super Mario Bros Wii.

Yeah there is a reason on why the Wii is in first place.  Wii launch price $250 PS3 launch price $500 - $600.

A low price didn't help the GameCube. Or the Xbox 360 Arcade when it was cheaper than a Wii.

You didn't mention anything about when the PS3 dropped to $300 and it was outselling the Wii.  That's when Nintendo had to drop the price of the Wii, so yes price is everything.

This is one hundred percent absolutely freaking ridiculous. The price was not everything for the few weeks where the PS3 outsold the Wii - did you forget that it was a hardware revision that helped to spur those sales?

Your oversimplification is so extreme that it reeks of intentional intellectual dishonesty.

Price is not everything. It is simply one factor (perhaps the most important factor you could argue, but still only 1 factor) of a larger whole that includes items such as the software library and marketing.

The Wii was averaging like 180,000 sales weekly before the $50 dollar price drop that helped push it to 300,000+ and on top over the PS3.  There was no hardware revision there just a price drop.

They are definitely ignoring certain franchises, though that comes back to a lack of development capacity, and their sudden unwillingness to farm games out to 3rd parties (except for Other M, apparently)

Excite Truck was made by Monster Games

Mario Party 8 was made by Hudson Soft

Mario Strikers Charged was made by Next Level Games

Donkey Kong Barrel Blast was made by Paon

Battalion Wars 2 was made by Kuju Entertainment

Endless Ocean was made by Arika

Mario Super Sluggers was made by Namco Bandai

Wario Land: The Shake Dimension was made by Good Feel

Punch-Out!! was made by Next Level Games

Another Code: R - A Journey into Lost Memories was made by Cing

Sin and Punishment 2 is being made by Treasure

Endless Ocean 2 is being made by Arika

Span Smasher is being made by Artoon

Dynamic Slash is being made by Sandlot

Line Attack Heroes is being made by Grezzo Games

So what were you saying about Nintendo being unwilling to work with third parties?

Well i got pwned. Good work. I was thinking about F-Zero and Starfox, but you did rather put it in perspective.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

All BS in the OP aside, I do have a question.

...Why is it on a Nintendo platform it's assumed that Nintendo HAS to be the only publisher responsible for traditional games? But for Sony & Microsoft platforms, who put out the same number of titles Nintendo do at any given point, it's a non-issue.

...MIND YOU 3rd parties this year have produced some good (DS:Extraction) to great (Little King's & LW2) games for the Wii, but these titles are never counted has a traditional game offering.

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

The Wii receiving a temporary (or even sustained) boost from a price drop does not mean that price is everything. The leap in logic here is enormous.

Price is not everything. The Wii would have whipped the ass of its competitors from start to finish regardless of the price wars involved. It's the software that sells it, though I allow that price is a factor.

I bought more Wii games in two and a half years than I did for both my PS2 and GCN combined.

That should say how I feel about the console.

...unless it has something to do with the growth of your wallet

I've amassed 10 grand of debt since the launch of the Wii.

So if anything, my wallet has shrunk massively. :P

Yeah I think there was an interview with Miyamoto where they said they didn't want other developers taking on F-zero and Starfox and wanted to make them themselves. I think the reluctance to have outside developers is with their really central frachises. I personally think F-zero was handled really well by Sega, so I think Miyamoto's main problem was with how Namco handled Starfox. I think he was quite disappointed by Namco's results with Star Fox assault.

As a long time Nintendo supported I enjoy all my Nintendo Consoles including my Wii.

As such I am rather confused by Nintendo's marketing strategy for the Wii.

For the Gamecube Nintendo showed alot of support over its short life despite the small size of the install base (22 million) with two star fox games, three Zelda games, a fire emblem games (designed for the console unlike the Wii Fire Emblem), Eternal Darkness, Two Pikmin Games, Two Metroid Games, FOUR mario Party Games and Kriby Air Ride.

Now the Wii  54 million install base three years after Launch has

One Zelda Game originally developed for the Gamecube

A fire emblem game ported to the Wii with lackluster visuals

No Eternal Darkness

Two Pikmin Ports

No Star Fox

One Metroid designed foe the Wii and one collection

One Mario Party Game designed for the Gamecube with gamecube visuals and poor motion controls

No Kirby Games

And a whole lot of games with Wii in the title.

Now does anyone think Nintendo has put to much of its resources into the casual market and neglected the hardcore fans many of whom stayed with Nintendo even through the Gamecube era?

You forgot Resident Evil 4 Wii edition, No More Heroes, MadWorld, Red Steel 2, FFCC: The Crystal Bearers, and RE: Umbrella Chronicles.

Oh yeah and The Conduit! What a joke!

I know you said Wii "Nintendo" games, implying, Nintendo made Wii games, but you can't ignore 3rd parties.
