This is nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to make PC gamers pay for map packs...

Honestly i was going to buy this game day one, but i dont think i will now because i live in aus and the only decent servers i can get are the dedicated ones maintained by the ISP's here, what is the point of buying a game that comes with a gimped online system?

This is just people being pissed off at Activision taking out something that has been commonplace for ages, works fine and adds a whole lot more to online gaming just so they can have tighter control over how much people have to pay to get the next three maps..

Also no modding it just shit.

Well DICE have confirmed there commitment to the dedicated server route for Battlefield Bad company 2 on the PC, which means that will get on my list no problems.

I am about to go to a large UK lan party (Multiplay i38) and was hoping to spend some quality time with my new friend. I now have to wonder if we can even host LAN games, it will certainly mean the lan party hosts will not be able to host them. So I will be at a LAN playing on the internet not normally the way it is suppose to go.

This has been so badly handled by IW it beggars belief. It is entirely possible that this other system will cater for 95% of peoples needs although that does sound unlikely but why they leave something as fundamental as this to slip out during a podcast only days before the title goes on sale is amazing.

52,300 on the petition and rising, go, go internet petition.

It is entirely possible that had this nugget not slipped out during this podcast that it would of been when people got hold of the game that they would of discovered the problem. Not nice.

Gotta say, I won't be getting MW2 on PC unless I know about mod handling, etc. I may get it on PS3 as my son prefers console anyway - but I normally get myself a PC copy but that will depend on how this turns out.



Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

He would have to be talking about PC because the console versions were already like this.

It has recieved alot of response, but as you said, VGChartz is pretty much a consoles-only website. It is indeed huge news.

that was expected since piracy is so huge on pc so why put dedicated servers. piracy affected pc hugely e.g. crysis is now in development for consoles and pc doesn't have almost any AAA exclusives. If piracy on pc keeps increasing you can expect the next call of duty pc version to be canceled
