What was so wrong about the "white is coming" ad? You oversensitive people... j/k ;P

A white PS3 would seem like an interesting ad to my lineup... it woud match my Wii. I prefer white.

I'm not sure a white PS3 would sell alot of units, i am on the Sony site all the time and the general feel of it is they would all rather buy the Black one, most people have a Black TV, receiver, DVD player and it matches it alot better. But the white Rumble controller in Japan this year is getting lots of attention, and i would imagine it to sell like crazy on ebay and any other place willing to import them. I know i will be searching ebay for them when they are released.

Sounds like a good idea. I don't think it is going to make a huge differance, but I am sure their is someone out their that will see it in white and fall in love. One thing is for sure, and that is that it can not hurt any.

Not really. The white PSP wasnt a limited edition in Japan, and now we have multicolored PSPs too. And "limited edition" would be the pepsi blue PS1, a short production run would be the white PS2.

Still, theres no reason to believe its a limited edition outside of baseless supposition.

Let me start by saying that I'm very open minded and against kneejerk reactions from the taboo-crowd. But the only way to make that ad more racist would be to have a skinhead explicitly kicking a black guy's ass (or vice-versa).

Let's be objective and look at what the ad explicitly depicted: a white human dominating a black human. That's the central message of the ad, it's not even a sidenote or anything. It can't get much more racist than that! If any pimple-faced teenager can understand that message, why can't a marketing company (supposedly ran by adults) realize it?

To release such an ad is just begging for trouble.

Having read the thread about the possibility of thin supply of the 40 GB model during Christmas, I think they should worry more about producing PS3s than about different colors. Unless their strategy is to claim they sold out... but shouldn't their priority be to sell as many PS3s as possible? They should stick to their priorities. You don't see Nintendo releasing different colors yet, since they're having supply problems it's better to just remain focused on churning out one model as quickly as possible.

Well i dunno about the white colour of the label, but if you look at the bottom right of the black one, the model number is CECHG01, indicating the white label [CECHH01] is at least a progression from the black version. Very probably the US version of white [Japan is 00, USA is 01 but otherwise the same.
Does the Japanese white come with dual-shock 3 controllers too?, if so then this white one probably has them.

A white PS3 would match my Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii.

My new white psp is awsome1!! 100times better than my black psp... the problem is I only have a regular companent cable :( I cant play games on the tv :(, I need an HDTV to do it..

Well, when Sony originally announced the PS3, it was said that it would be black, white and silver (chrome?).

I actually find it odd that the white one could be the 40g. I thought it would be more wise of Sony to try and sell the more expensive models?

Maybe since Sony cut the price of the 80gb it may turn out that the 40gb could be loosing less money than the 80. How much does chopping the GS chip, 2 USB ports, memory readers and 40gb of HDD space actually save?
