I can't even fathom how this thread managed to get this far, or why GT felt the need to explain their score to begin with.

9.3 is a score that most game developers would kill for, so to the people saying "It's not fair to the developers!", just be quiet. 9.3 is an extraordinary, spectacular score.

And also, everyone keeps saying that "Omg you guys can't read it's not the score that's the problem!!". Oh, I'm so sorry, let me pinpoint what everyone is calling the real problem - Uncharted 2 getting a 9.3 isn't the problem, the problem is that Gears of War 2, Halo 3 and GTA4 got better scores. Oh no! I mean, it's impossible to enjoy something if one person in the world believes that something else is superior!

Now Naughty Dog will go out of business and nobody will buy Uncharted 2, because one individual believes that three other games are better.

Seriously, let this thread die because this is by far (very far) the most pathetic and worthless thread I've seen on VGChartz. (No offense to the TC, I'm talking about how the thread has developed and the subject itself, not to leo-j who created it).

You will understand how the thread got this far if you will actually bother reading, and understanding, what this thread is about, and forget the mantra of "oh lol PS3 fanboys cry because their game got a low score".

Great defense, try not using it on every person who doesn't agree with you. I read through the entire thread, and what it boils down to is that people are crying because Uncharted got a 9.3, but not that solely, people are fine with the score - Until they realize that Gears of War 2, and to a lesser extent, GTA 4 and Halo 3, got higher scores. That's what the entire thread has been about, and you can deny it all you want, but I spent the last 20-25 minutes reading through this thread of horror and I am well aware of what I read.

Second strike, one more and you're out :)

It isn't about the fact that they got a higher score, but it is about the REASON that GT sated they were given that score.

If they told, for example, that they prefer Sci-Fi settings, then yeah, it will make sense.

It doesn't make sense when they say that, in 2009, a game need to be innovative in order to get a score above 9.3, why it was 9.8 in 2008? Who knows.

It also means that, in GT, from now on, a game won't get a score above 9.3 if it doesn't innovate, and we both know that they won't abode by this rule.

And on another note - Great avatar :) I'm planning to play Juri in SSF4

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

I think YOU have missed the point somewhat.  I and plenty of other readers are well aware that people are claiming their problem is with the 'bias' and not the actual score but in the end people are still complaining that one reviewer rated a game that they like lower than think they it should be.

Gametrailers are allowed to think the U2 isn't as good as any other game and for whatever reason they like, they don't have to agree with Metacritic or anybody else for that matter.

It is just ONE review, it doesn't matter.

Things change, that's how the world works. Also, you know, you might want to stop and think that maybe, just maybe, in this particular reviewer's opinion, Gears of War 2 innovated more, or simply was just that more much fun. Now, honest to god, I think it's fairly well-known on this site that I'm no big supporter of the PS3. That said, Uncharted 2 looks absolutely glorious and when/if I ever do get a PS3, the two Uncharted-games will be one of the biggest reasons why. But it doesn't look like it innovates much, from what I've seen. It looks like Uncharted 1 again, but with added multiplayer. Is that awesome? Yeah, I'm sure it is. Is it awesome enough to bump the score up massively? I'm not sure it is.

The thing everyone in this thread needs to embrace is - Different strokes for different folks. This guy thinks Gears 2 innovated more and liked it better. Does that make him wrong? No, it's his opinion. Rather than trying to scream your longues out about how terrible he is, why not theorize on what Gears 2 did better than the first one, and not in a condescending way? Maybe then, you'll understand his viewpoint a little better.

Other note: Thanks :) Really excited for SSF4, and I can't believe how great Juri is. She just might convince me to switch my main from Ken, who I've had as my main since I was a kid and played Street Fighter II at my friend's houses.

My god since when could a 9.3 cause controversy

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Listen to that. It explains how GT feel pretty well. (skip to the uncharted section)

I blame Wii Fit...+!!!

Well, let's just agree to disagree lol, we've all put too much time into this thread about one site.

Amen to that.

so all hell broke loose because GT gave 9.3 out of 10 to the game that is basically more of the same and is a sequel to the game that was basically copy of Gears of War mixed with Tomb Raider(U2 is even more like a Gears of War than the first one)?
and all because sony fans can't brag about anything besides U2 nad Deomn Soul's cause we all know that if the game won't get 10/10 it means it's pile of dong.
sony fans are a sad bunch - especially those on GT(probably that's why i stopped reading comments on that site years ago).

"Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is one of the most polished games we've ever played. At every corner there's something new to marvel at. Whether it's the sharp writing, twisting story, frenetic pacing, or tight (albeit derivative) gameplay, this is one of those games that a lot of people will play in one sitting."

Doesn't sound so bad to me. 9.3 is a great score... But more importantly, the actual review is very very positive. I really wish review scores would be abolished.
