I doubt microsoft is in the console-business just to throw away money, no matter how much some people want 360 to beat the ps3 MS has to make money to survive, this should be their priority as a business.
I've understood that their 360 arcade-console is being sold at loss allready, would they really want to go further in the red just like sony did with slim? I doubt sony will cut their console price anymore so there shouldn't be a need to make the current consoles any cheaper than needed for either business they could as well give them for free.
When it comes to games both consoles have some pontential system sellers and the only place ps3 can't catch the 360 is the US. |
First of all Sony has lost much more money on their current gen console than MS. Plus with many arcade owners buying overpriced HDD, XBL, Wifi MS is able to make a profit. With decreasing PS2,PSP sales and on top the slim bleeding money from sony, Ms can easily cut the price of the 360.

Right now i would not say its Bleeding money, if I was a betting man Sony is prob. breaking even and soon to be getting a profit from the PS3 late next year.
due to the some of the highest cost component's all have had big reduction in their cost's already.
1) cell processor
2) passive heat reduction component's have been reduced in cost
3) a big one:

Good news for Blu-ray fans. Sony's just announced that they're ramping up blue laser diode production yet again, which will lower the price to just around $8 each by June. What will this mean to you? Well, seeing as the diodes were the reason for the PS3 shortages this fall (and contributed to both the PlayStation's and Blu-ray players' high prices), this huge windfall of diodes could mean lowered prices for all Blu-ray related items.
Some analyst from Wedbush Morgan Securities agrees, saying "Sony is definitely in a position to cut price," and that prices will be lowered once costs hit around $499. So those of you who are on the fence about dumping $599 may want to wait it out just a little longer.
Also, since HD DVD also uses blue laser diodes (a different type, and they just don't call theirs blue), this news could also mean they will ramp up production of theirs as well. – Jason Chen
