People dont seem to realize that MS have a very hard time to make savings on the X360 hardware manufactoring to be able to cut it's price.

The slow drop in price of the X360 indicates this. Cos in four years it went from $399 to $299 and $299 to $199 - only a $100 drop in price. That's record slow price drops in console history. Meanwhile PS3 has managed to cut $200.

So Sony has the upper hand cos they managed to drastically cut the costs of a very pricey console, while MS is unable to accomplish anything like that and thus can't stay competitive any longer. (price of X360 in Europe is $50 lower but the reason for that is not savings on the console, but MS simply has to sell it for a loss cos they were tanking in Europe)

No, it's not the same situation mate, and cannot be.

In the 2008 Holiday season, PS3 was to expensive for the mass, and Bluray still a niche market, while 360 very cheap in comparison.  PS3 price was not good for the mass, 360 price was good for the mass.

Now, PS3 price better for the mass, 360 price very good for the mass, lower than PS3.   This is the main reason, the main point. The price.

PS3 is now affordable by the mass,  + the Bluray is now the new trend and it will establish as the MAINSTREAM in 2010.   you may get now all in a box at 299$.

The PS3 has a hard battle ahead with the 360 to beat it. But, if it continues outselling the 360 like it is now, it may happen by the end of 2010 / early 2011.

The PS3's was obviously constrained by price, which is no longer a factor. Before the 360's price cut last year, the PS3 was continually outselling the 360. I feel this will happen again till the 360 has another price cut, (probably $50), but this time tho, SONY will more than likely cut at the same time which would see the PS3 still on top.

PS3 has it's biggest year in SW yet for 2010. 360's is strong too, but has too many big sequels that will not attract new gamers to the HW. Natal better work...

PS3 is looked at at being of more value to most, especially at this price, too. What ever M$ lowers the 360 to in the future isn't gonna change the general publices view much, as they already see it for $199, regardless of SKUs.

U hit on a very good point there. M$ is not a HW company and cannot compete with SONY's huge manufacturing plants. For M$ to make a "slim" they would need a HW company like Toshiba, (who I might add dislikes them alot at the moment) to totally re-design the 360 and seeing that it was never made with hindsight and was totally rushed, I don't see this happening any time soon.

SONY can and will, (if there is a demand) produce the amount of PS3's needed to close the gap. This is what they do, make electronics.

Who other than the manufacturers really care about this? Do you think that by being "last" stopped Nintendo to be the console powerhouse that it is today? Do you really think that Sony will simply banish if it doesn't sell more than the 360?.

I give proper credits to MS to have made a name for themselves in the console market and given us some trully great games, as a gamer, I appreciate them immensly for that.
But there are some people in here that just are way too hypocrites for their own good, especially Ronster.

Look, i'm a huge sega fan myself, my favourite 5th gen console was the Saturn because it had the best games that gen IMO and the megadrive had the most diverse games variety of the 4th gen, but the amount of hate that you show against Sony is unhealthy, let it go, Sega buried themselves in their own bad judgments, or may I remind you the Sonic X fiasco or the Panzer Dragoon Saga limited copies released fiasco? Even the dreamcast had bad judgments from Sega part.
Oh and I find it ironic that you don't seem to show the same amount of hate to nintendo, since they always wiped the floor with every Sega Console, especially in the Snes/Megadrive era, but hey, in your mind, Sony's the only at fault, so now you cling to MS to see Sony destroyed, ain't that sad.

As a gamer I find that attitude simply nauseating, because we should all have more and more choices and options which will only come if there are more companies to release the games.

PDF, I understand your point, but I'm referring to the present, and future, and the 360 price is alredy very very cheap for the mass.

Now have MS more margin for other price cuts compared to Sony ?   The answer is not.    From now on, it will be the whole value and the game experience of the console to make the difference.   MS will lower the price ? 50$ less ? Sony have the margin to do the same.   This is my point.

Now, I don't want that some people get me wrong, and I'll say what I think, 360 is a good console; but when I read crap like the one in previous pages, well, I have to answer.
