Forums - Sales - So PSP GO! sold 80K Units (EU + NA)...Flop or HOT?!

of course, that's why in my first post i wrote imo.

But just to make a comparison... what if the DSi would have sold 80k in USA and UK at launch.... i wonder how people would've react to that.

Considering it is the DS, which sells a fuck load, it would have been terrible.

PSP Go selling 80k from a few days in 2 countries isn't all that bad really, when last week PSP sold ~100k WW.

If the PSP Go sold anywhere near as well as any DS model on its opening day, the dawning of a new handheld world would commence. The earth would shake, the floors of Nintendo would rumble, and there would be a glorious PSP Go sun shining down on the new world.

You guys didn't honestly expect the Go to come close to selling what the DSi did, did you? Anyone comparing them expected the Go to singlehandedly kill the marketshare difference with the DS? Come on.  Its the high-end of high-end handhelds.  Its basically guaranteed to be outsold by every other handheld, for the rest of this generation, just due to its elite nature and pricepoint.

I saw 3 PSPGo's at my school already... new hype I'm guessing.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 > Modern Warfare 2

Flopped imo. but we need to see it in a long run.
I predict big drop next week. (there are always sony fans would buy anything sony released first week)

Not the flop people expected it to be. That's actually good.

and how many sales would it have needed to be a flop?

cause here they are not even at 50% of PSP sales (not including Japan), which is pretty damn pathetic for the new better iteration of a console....

just look at PS3, 1000% increase in sales for the slim... so by sony's standards, this is an abysmal flop to say the least.

I think I saw this point quite a lot already. And the answer is "Slim = new model + price cut". "Go = new model + price hike". I think that the difference is pretty clear and that the comparison does not hold.

How much did the PSP 3K sold?
