Forums - Gaming - Activision shut down Shaba Games

Yep the developers of Spider-Man "Web of Shadows" and Tony Hawk's Project 8 were shutted down by the Activision's new policies:

well activision is restructuring corporate wise, they want each studio to "own" a franchise and Shaba didn't own anything we were almost the Spider-Man studio but then the boss at Shaba didn't want to so we became a studio without a franchise or specialty and Bobby Kotick doesn't want a studio that has experience doing multiple genres. it was sad.

Also seems like good ol' Activision is laying off some people from other studios.

is bobby kotick fucking retarded?!?

too bad for the employees of shaba studios. hopefully they'll be picked up or assimilated by other developers :-/

It must suck to work for Activision

Neversoft don't do Tony Hawk anymore? That explains a lot.

Activision are a bunch of idiots. They take a team like Neversoft away from something they're good at, and have them work on a franchise in a completely different genre, successfully running it into the ground.

And so Activision's dick parade marches on.

Lmao, i think they will fire all their inhouse teams until they remain only with Infinity ward and the GH team

Activision = new EA

Makes sense following the interview of that manager guy. Anyone still remembers that?

Bobby is a pretty cool guy, he fucks activision over and eH doesn't afraid of anything.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

This is just a reminder to the peons of Activision's company mantra: "skepticism, pessimism, and fear."

It's simple, with "specialist" studios making one genre, Activision can run a franchise into the ground and then dump the studio (after milking it). A jack-of-all-trades studio wouldn't fit well into this plan.

My only question is, where are they going to get the next big franchise? That strategy relies on having a replacement once your current cow is dead.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
