Forums - Nintendo - Sony makes RIDICULOUS comment

why did sony (turn 10) need to mention nintendo (GT)?

I dont have a problem with it personally... but I thought you didnt like it?

I don't like it when those comparisons are made in reviews, if that's what you mean.

When talking about risks, Nintendo made a pretty big risk with the motion. And they are the industry leader right now... It is natural to mention the industry leader.

And Sony didn't "trash talk" Ninty...

He didn't say Ninty, erm "dropped the ball". Or maybe even PS3 is the only console releasing this gen... Or better yet, PS3 is the definitive console.

Pouring money down the drain for several years doesn't seem like a risk. It seems like a guaranteed way to lose money. I mean, if I chop off my legs, do I call it "making a risky decision because they might not grow back" or does everybody get to call me stupid?

That's an unfair analogy. Sony (and most analysts, and most third-parties) made several big assumptions that the generation would turn out like X. Reality has proven to be Y. If, however, their assumptions had proven to be true, they would have continued to be profitable.

A more correct version of your analogy is "I tried to break into a house and assumed that their pit bull was all bark and no bite." You may have been reckless in your assumption, but you didn't go in with the full knowledge that you were guaranteed to lose your legs.

".... we like to say that the environment where PlayStation wins is best for this industry"..... although it isnt as arrogant as turn 10 saying they are the only sim releasing this gen , it is pretty damn close to it.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

But if 10 years of successful business strategies had given me really amazing solid gold legs, would I not be stupid to instantly be so reckless with them?  Taking those sort of risks is one of those "all balls and no brains" situations that I don't think I'd be bragging about.

Hey, never said I was congratulating Sony for the risks they've taken. Or that I would have taken those risks myself.

What he said is a tad bit true. Nintendo has been holding alot back.

But hell, Wii is still on top because it has virtually made ANY marketing mistakes. But most of its games need a little work though to be honest.

can't wait for Track Season 2009/2010, guna beast out!
