Forums - Nintendo - Sony makes RIDICULOUS comment

Could we agree that both Nintendo and Sony took quite a big amount of risk?

Sony launched the PS3 at $600.

PS3 at the time took ~$800 to make.

Losing $200 per console is a pretty big risk...

That wasn't a risk.  That was arrogance in an attempt to corner the next gen DVD market.

There was no reason their console had to cost $800 anyway -- Microsoft made a better console for much less money.

Microsoft made a better console? Are you shitting me? Give me five reasons how Microsoft made a better console.

My guesses...

  • Halo
  • Gears
  • Xbox Live
  • Halo
  • Erm...

Lol. The only way I can see that Microsoft did better was how they implemented xbox live and their achievement system. The PS3 does everything better pretty much.

Considering he's actually talking about the console itself... Live and Achievements aren't part of the console. My list was just random bullshit, btw.

I honestly can't think of anything in the 360 that is classed as "better" than anything in the PS3.

Sony doesn't take risks, they just copy

Oh Yea Who are one of the main founder of DVD technology today... Sony (along with phillips and like maxwell)

Did MS try to copy sony a piggyback with ther HD-DVD product but fail... Yes because sony released bluray

Did Sony copy Nintendo on Motion control...*drum roll* NO, because they had the eye cam they just never followed through with it until now.

Who really...

You know I'll just stop here but sony has some credibilty of risk

They are the founding fathers of innovation and risk, so we have to give them some nostalgia and let them say their peace we'll let 2010 do the talking.

Honestly, do JRPG makers even realize how hard it is to save the world? That shit is impossible!

You obviously don't live in the same world as everybody else.

I really don't get why the reaction to this is stronger than any other PR of late but I guess people interpret things differently

It's because we have nothing better to do and we are bored.

LOL.  How did you come up with that number?  Not that it needs 5 reasons to be better, but comming up with them is not that hard.

Multiplats are better on the 360.

The controller is better on the 360.

The Price WAS better on the 360 (during the time period we're talking about).

Natal will be better than Sony's motion control rip-off.

The online community is better on the 360.

It's pretty sad that some people think ripping off the customer is a risk.  Sure, it's risky, but it's not a good risk for the consumer and certainly isn't something to brag about.  If you must call it risk, they took it for all the wrong reasons.  The reality is Sony did nothing new with the PS3.  They made it more powerful, but that's to be expected.  They included Blue Ray, but similar things have been done before.  They simply followed the same tried and true direction they've been following for over a decade, and there's not much risk in that.
