Well Sony gets like 40 bucks off of each game right?

40 X 1.93 = 77.2 million

I highly dought the game cost over 50 million

It should be around 2.75 million LTD

Games in others retail at a higher price point than NA

and don't forget the money they made from the DLCs

Sony sold more than 1.93 copies already.

40 bucks off of every copy is way off.

1) 1/3 goes to retail distributors alone. ---> 0$ go to Sony

2) Another 1/3 goes to marketing (localizing, printing, packaging, advertising, wholesaling & stocking,) ---> of which 7/10 $ are benefits

3) And the last 1/3 goes to development ----> 20$

Let's consider all Killzone 2 copies were sold at retail (no bundling)

2 million times 27/30 = 54 / 60 million $.

I doubt it's only 30 dollars.

Source? If I'm not mistaken KZ2 marketing was handled by Sony, not the specific development team. Aswell printing and packaging include the production cost. Stocking and wholesaling is like 0.01 cent per copy of the game, or do you believe that every single copy is beeing handled by postman with express delivery?

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

2.5 million tops

Probably a small profit

Yes, the have the engine now, KZ3 should be able to be developed for much less, KZ3 will probably sell more (I'd give it 3M or so) and therefore over the two games the profit would be pretty decent.

Oh, for point 2 I meant to add that while the title itself probably only saw a modest profit, I bet the DLC MP packs have pushed up the profits nicely, as they seem to have been well purchased, weren't the cheapest and surely couldn't have taken that must extra cost to produce.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

2.5 mio seems reasonable, could go above that, but I doubt it will hit 3 mio.

And yes, I think it has made a profit. How much? No clue, but a profit. The DLC should have made a nice profit too.

I also think it's hard to predict when KZ3 will arrive. It depends on when K:L2 is set to arrive, but generally I think 2011 will be the earliest. Could even arrive in early 2011.

Over 3 mln. by the end of 2010.
LTD probably 5 mln.
The game sells around 20-25k per week, when PS3 increase in sales.

I expect by the end of 2010:

Over 5 mln. Metal Gear Solid 4
Over 5 mln. Gran Turismo 5
Over 3 mln. Uncharted
Over 3 mln. LittleBigPlanet
Over 3 mln. Killzone 2
Over 3 mln. Uncharted 2
Over 3 mln. AGENT
Over 2 mln. Resistance 2
Over 2 mln. InFAMOUS
Over 2 mln. God of War 3
Over 2 mln. Ratchet:ToD
Over 2 mln. Ratchet:CiT
Over 1 mln. MAG
Over 1 mln. MotorStorm: Pacific Rift
Over 1 mln. Valkyria Chronicles
Over 1 mln. White Knight Chronicles
Over 1 mln. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm

1) Won't go over 3.5 Mil. I'd say 2.75 mil - 3 mil

2) I think so.

3) Killzone 3 I'm hoping for an announcement at next years E3 confirmed for a mid 2011 date due to the fact that it'll take less time to develop the sequel since Guerilla has already built a powerful engine and less development cost.

How high do you reckon it will go?

Think it has made money on that massive budget yet?
